I have been squinting and Photoshopping the photos outside the houses in an effort to identify the pieces of paper in the girls hands. Hi Caroline I have rescanned one of the photos and can almost decipher some of the letters but am hoping if I post it to the site you will be able to Photoshop it b...

Re: Barbara WHAYMAN Hertford 1927-1933
copy of Photoshop, and the images are bitmaps - Rosie, is there any chance that you could take a magnifying glass to the originals and decipher any of the lettering? Will have a go at this when I get back to Hobart in a few days. I have Photoshop too but not at all proficient in it. Thanks for all ...

Hi Caroline How's the weather in Tassie? Pi$$ing it down here in Adelaide, hair a mass of frizz, garden full of luxuriant soursobs, paddocks full of juvenile capeweed and salvation jane: I think that we will have to spray this year, and risk the ire of our biodynamic neighbours :( I am in Launceston...

If you...

As to the Guides, CH was very early into getting its own School Guide Companies. At one stage there were at least two Guide Companies and also a Rangers Company. In my day there were still two Companies - I was in the 1st CH, we had blue ties and our patrols were named after birds From memory Barba...

Re: Brian WHAYMAN Horsham 1924-1931
Looking at the position the marching photo is taken from it is probable that he was in Lamb, Barnes or Maine A or B. The boys behind him look too big to be in the Prep so that can almost certainly be ruled out. I think the bust over the archway is positioned at the west end of the quad so he would ...

We were wearing very similar uniforms in the 60's and 70's, but our skirts were knee length. We wore the same gymslips for daywear in the winter and sports, it looks as though those girls had longer ones for day and shorter ones for sports. Our ties were narrower and we were not allowed to wear the...

Brian WHAYMAN Horsham 1924-1931
Photographs of Brian WHAYMAN at Horsham 1924-1931. The photograph of Brian with his grandmother and sisters, Molly and Barbara, must be when he first attended CH. The other photograph is Brian leading his colleagues in the dinner parade. I would like to know more about Brian and which ward/house he ...

Re: B M WHAYMAN
Further to my previous posting, I have noticed that B.M. Whayman is on the World War Two War memorial at Christ's Hospital, giving his years at the school as 1924 to 1931. I have done some research into Old Blues recently. The school magazine is "The Blue" which at that period did not car...

Re: WHAYMAN
Rosie, You may already have found this, but in case you haven't the details of the death of Brian Maurice Whayman (who I presume to be your cousin) are on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site. Go to Google and type in CWGC. Enter that site and go to "Search our records." After that...
