Re: Betty Coles

I am so sorry to hear about Miss Coles' death. She was one of my favourite teachers and I often wondered what happened to her after she left CH. I think she arrived at CH in 1971 and left in 1974. She taught me O Level History (British political history 1815-1914, which I really enjoyed) and I remem...

Re: Roger Wilson RIP

Hi Paul

No problem at all, I will omit your anecdote and keep it general. I just thought it would be nice to give him a mention.

Incidentally, please accept my sympathies for your brother; I thought when editing his obituary last time what an interesting person he sounded.

Regards

Re: Who's Blue

There is an Old Blues directory on the CHOBA website, though I'm not sure if it's exactly the same as Who's Blue. LInk is at https://portal.christs-hospital.org.uk/ ... login.aspx but you have to register first.

Re: Roger Wilson RIP

Hi all I'm just compiling the Remembering section for the next issue of The Old Blue, and there is nothing for Roger Wilson. Would you mind if I used your comments (either crediting you all, or anonymously, as you prefer), to put something together for him. He seems to have been popular so it would ...

Re: Quick questions and (maybe) answers Hertford Memories thread

Just doing the obituaries for the next issue of The Old Blue, and have been unable to turn up any further information for Eileen Downing. If anyone would like to add any further reminiscences of Eileen, I'd be happy to include them in lieu of a conventional obituary.

Re: Quick questions and (maybe) answers Hertford Memories thread

I don't know Angela. It's not unusual for last-minute news of an OB death to come in just as the Old Blue is going to press, when all the layout is more or less finalised, and the editor might squeeze in the basic announcement. That's what happened this time - I'd finished and submitted the Remember...

Re: Quick questions and (maybe) answers Hertford Memories thread

Goodness, I didn't even know about Eileen Downing and I edit the obituaries section! I think it must have come in at the last minute before the copy deadline, so must be very recent. I was aware of Barbara's death; we were hoping the family might supply an obituary but didn't want to chase them too ...

There was quite a discussion on the Old Blues Facebook group last night, and I posted a number of times there.

Re: PETITION: Is 26% Full-Fee Paying Pupils Too High?

For information and in the interests of completeness, since it doesn't seem to have been referred to elsewhere in this thread, this topic was mentioned in the CHOBA February e-newsletter, as follows. The URL for the fuller details on the CHOBA website (under the News section) is http://www.chassocia...

Neill the Notorious

A while since I posted on here, but I was trawling through some archives for a particular bit of info, when my memory was jogged about Neill the Notorious. He seemed to go missing a couple of years ago and no-one could turn up any information about him. Out of interest I just googled his full name (...

Re: Bursary information

Thanks for the detailed reply Frances. I don't know too much about marketing either, I admit, but I am fairly sure that the investment will have been deemed worthwhile. I honestly don't know whether that will have been the case but I would sincerely hope that a review would have been done afterwards...

Re: Bursary information

Perhaps the headmaster, who believes he is running a business rather than a school, is trying to make it as difficult as possible to find any useful information, in the hope that those who are actually in need of assistance will decide not to bother! Sorry to come late to this thread - I don't visi...

Re: Hertford Art Project

A Hertford Old Blue has suggested the idea of us contributing memorabilia from Hertford and having some current pupils make it up into a collage or artwork. There is obviously Hertford stuff in the CH Museum but the idea is that this project would involve current pupils in learning more about Hertf...
