Re: ASSOCIATED COSTS

When we are living at another school, my parents were guardians for my cousins who were at Charterhouse and Roedean. My uncle and aunt lived in a variety of places in the middle east at the time. My cousins used to come home for half term etc...

Re: Bible help!

We had to have Good News Bibles (the ones with the weird faceless people) for our RS lessons...

If someone wanted a gift, then the NIV is relatively accessible and the one used by the majority of Anglican churches.

Re: Parental Contribution

When I was at the school, there were 110 - 120 per year making about 800 pupils.

The school has a theoretical capacity, I believe of 850 which would be just over 120 per year but I don't know if they run with a larger 6th form these days. 95 on a year seems very small.

Re: Parental Contribution

Mrs Cairncross, was, as I remember an excellent deputy headmistress. She was generally very quiet but she could put the fear of God into Grecians if you crossed her. Indeed, if you were in serious trouble, you either wanted the head (Mr Poulton) or the second master / deputy (Mr SIllett) - Mrs Cairn...

Re: Fairport Convention auditioning drummer circa 1967 ?

Was this after their drummer had died in the car accident and they wrote Meet on the Ledge in memory of him?

Re: Old Blues on You Tube...

My next one is a biggie - Christ's Hospital and Gene Simmons - the lead singer and womaniser from the rock band Kiss came and 'taught' at CH a group of LE (I think) for a series on Channel 4 called Rock School. Our very own Eruesto (Josh Bell) was the lead singer of the band called 'The Class'. The...

Msizi Africa needs your help!

Hi all, some of you may know that a couple of years ago, a friend of mine from CH, Lucy Caslon (Col A - 1992-1999) started a charity, Msizi Africa. ( http://www.msiziafrica.org.uk/ ) From the website: Msizi Africa is a personal response to the experience of our Trustees who have travelled through Af...

It would be very tricky I think to have parents on the board of governors. I don't understand how it all works now that the Foundation is technically separate from the school...
