I really hope that council taxes will be scrapped in the near future! An increased income tax instead would be much more fair. No, it just looks that way. Consider a Mr. Smith, who owns a £300,000 house free and clear. He does a little work here and there to pay the bills, but pays very little inc...

......... that a certain person has not adjusted the forum clock to summer time ! So you haven't! (You do it yourself in your profile) That seems a bit silly when my computer changes the date for me. Talk about keeping a dog and barking yourself ! Quite. Web forums tend to do a terrible job handlin...

'Bundling' and the like generally takes place as year group, or at least group, activities. Therefore intentional bullying is prevented, as individuals are protected/supported by their group. If somebody is being bullied, this will normally be due to them being unpopular with the majority of their ...

AVG and AVAST are separate programs, though they both have free versions for home use. I've installed AVG for a few Windows-using friends and family members, and it seems to serve them well. I haven't needed it myself in a while. Unlike some commercial programs (you know who you are), it doesn't slo...

Re: Languages, English and the EU: A call for opinions...
I and a partner have been asked to propose the motion that English ought become the common language for the European Union for the next stage of one of the many interschool debating competitions (the regional round of the Mace, if that means anything) and doing the preparation has got me thinking a...

Hear hear. I just think Google could also decide not to like dentures, and ban the sale of those - I'm sure a lot of people choke on those each year (both legally-owned dentures, and illegal ones...) It's just as arbitrary.... Yes, it is. But guns are controversial in a way that dentures are not. A...

I've always felt it harmless. Without knowing who felt hurt by it, I can't comment on whether or not they deserved it. And I'm not sure I'd do a thing like that anyway. There were a few satirical posters and papers around the early 90s. Lousey is just the best known. Mostly, it was just a bit of fun...

Re: Google Adwords - discrimination against legal activity?
I have recently tried to setup Google Adwords to help advertise the website of The Oxford Gun Company . Having setup my Adwords account, and paid the £5 activation fee, I was informed that my advert had been rejected, as "At this time we do not allow ads for websites that sell guns or related...

... the first person on the forum in 2007? In anticipation of 00.01 am, happy new year, folks! Happy new year, one and all. But yes, this was always going to be a tricky question what with timezones and everything. It was already 2007 somewhere in the world before I even woke up on New Year's Eve, ...

Re: RSS added to the board...
If you wish to use RSS to keep an eye on the latest topics being posted/added to, I've added RSS to the forum. This works on a section-by-section basis, so you can subscribe to an individual section. The RSS links and images on the front page don't work. You've got some backslashes ('\') in there w...

Re: Why is this allowed to happen?
I disagree totally. Firstly I don't believe that he, as someone who is engaging in violent criminal activity, should be afforded the same rights as law abiding people. That's not to say the police should be given a green light to shoot him but it should mean that if he is injured in the course of h...

Re: Why is this allowed to happen?
Should he be allowed to sue? Absolutely. He may be a dangerous criminal, but he still has human rights. That's what winds me up so much! Human rights become confused with the right to sue. Human rights *are* the right to sue. If you can't seek redress when your rights are violated, you never really...

http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30100-13552625,00.html This sort of story makes me want to leave the UK. Does anyone else find this as unbelievable as I do? Should he be allowed to sue? Absolutely. He may be a dangerous criminal, but he still has human rights. Should he win? Probably not, ba...
