Re: School Prospectus

Expensively over-designed in my opinion, and short on hard information. What is not clear is if this lack of information will be made up for by inserts in the pocket at the back. And have you noticed the carefully photo-shopped pics which add to the rosy glow? In particular though, have a look at th...

Hmmm, yes, and look what we got. The EU, massively corrupt, hugely undemocratic and no real access to justice unless you've got a ton of money. Better than what we faced in 1940 perhaps, but where's it all leading to?

Re: Day Pupils

The pupils clearly know who is which, and if they do you can be sure the staff do. And as for the 'serious' stuff, that is still no reason to treat the pupils differently. Unless, of course, somebody has an interest in not losing the extra money brought in....

Re: Day Pupils

The information that filtered through to us from several pupils is that one of the main gripes that traditionally sourced pupils have in connection with full fee-payers is that the latter appear to receive more favourable treatment when punishments are handed out. If this had just come from one sour...

Re: Allowed Expenses

Quite right Ailurophile, some will gain and some will lose. The problem is that the losers may already be finding things tough, and because no indication has been given of what this standard allowance will be, they will have no way of estimating what their likely commitment will be. It would have be...

Pleased to hear that Mrs. C. Can they do it anonymously? Any idea how many will be responding? There's no indication that the pupils are being asked though.

Re: Headmaster's Appraisal

And why not OB's ??
Why not indeed JR? The name and address is available if you want it. Incidentally, the appraisal form itself asks for the name of the sender, gender and year group of child. Is this likely to encourage forthright replies....?

Headmaster's Appraisal

No doubt everybody's aware that as part of the continuing programme of staff development there is an appraisal of the Headmaster being conducted. We understand that a random 20% of parents have been sent forms which have to be returned to an independent person outside the school. But we've asked aro...

Re: Are we alone?
This is crying out for a legal challenge, judicial review or whatever. CH may think the case is watertight, but I suggest it's more than a bit leaky!
The trouble with the Law is it's useless to the likes of us. The outcome is uncertain, but what IS certain is it'll cost a fortune! ...

Re: Are we alone?

I asked for a spreadsheet or breakdown of fees calculation this year because our fees had risen by over £2000 for no apparant reason. I put this request in writing to the counting house at the beginning of July, I received a reply today, no breakdown of fees calculation, just "I appreciate your co...

Re: 09/10 Financial Contributions

See my post today under "Are we alone..?" re the mysteries of the Counting House and the need for transparency. I don't know that it is enough to wonder whether anyone at CH might be reading this, or if they are, whether anything will actually be done. Posters to this site are comparatively few and ...

Re: Are we alone?

To come back on to the original topic: we've seen this from all sides as we have children at CH, and although we're ok at the moment there have been times when we were extremely short of money and watching every penny. It has always seemed to us that what goes on in the Counting House is often shrou...
