Re: Carol Concert 2009

sorry to butt in (if that's how you spell it)... but what concert is this? Is this a carol concert for ex-CH people? (sorry, Old Blues?) I haven't heard of this as a parent, but would be interested in going along to anything happening in London. please put me in the picture! Thanks, :D ah, I see now...

Re: FIRST LEAVE WEEKEND

Well, it's 8.45pm on Sunday evening now. Have just got back from a dire Grecians' parents' evening ... there just has to be a better way of organising those things  Hope you all had a lovely leave weekend - they fly by unfortunately. x I'm a bit worried by this comment, Mom2to! - what was so ...

Re: New sports kit list

Yes I saw that - thanks! however, on the website it says that uniform will be delivered to CH 'by 18th September' - does this mean that if you order after 18th it will be delivered sometime later? or will they miraculously know what orders are coming up?! a bit confusing... :o

Re: Best wishes to all the new second form

I'm emailing Dr Rowcroft today so maybe I'll ask her about the itinerary - thanks for all the info. I will definitely try to go for the marching at least, but would love to hear the choir too. So, see you there, somewhere around Holborn! I realise I should have started a new thread for this - one th...

Re: Best wishes to all the new second form

What 50p? hadn't heard about that after two years! or is it just new-ones? By the way does anyone know whether parents can go and see them if they are singing in London on St Matthew's Day? i haven't heard anything about it and would love to go. I don't know whether singers also march - ? I've asked...

Re: Best wishes to all the new second form

Have a good trip you two! but I suggest don't stay too long... Re. the sisters, I do remember my sister and I not having much to do with each other at school and embarrassment playing a part. I suppose it's more complicated than just the support of having a memeber of the family there. And siblings ...

Re: Best wishes to all the new second form

Good luck to all of you getting through the first term. It's so hard! I have felt like driving down to bring my son back just for my own sake this week, but he has just phoned and sounds so happy. it wasn't always like that and I think the sudden immersion into CH life can be quite a shock. Is your ...

Re: Best wishes to all the new second form

yes surely the new 2nd form are allowed to email? I remember getting an email from the housemaster with a photograph of all of them which was really exciting. then a short email from my son saying how great everything was. Of course by the first leave weekend reality had set in and the moans and gro...

Re: GCSE options

Well done to your son Englishangel - I think that's fantastic. I ended up going to a 'College of Higher Education' (which is now Bournemouth University!) at the age of 24 - it wasn't necessarily a good career move but it was a vital opportunity for growing up and finding good friends, which I had fa...

Re: GCSE options

Re the 12 A*s needed at Durham - that is scary! and I too worry about the broad education factor. Obviously we need some more clarification and reassurance from someone!! :?

Re: GCSE options

Many good schools are bypassing GCSE all together and even Cambridge only expect you to have As or A* in the subjects you take BUT not that you take a certain number. Our new GCSE regime is in the best interests of the pupils (modern language debate notwithstanding), so do not worry. It is not like...

Re: GCSE options

Ah - note slightly different wording, though of course I have no intention of poahing it - your name just reminded me of my own plight now that my son has gone back! No further mentions I promise... I expect there are quite a few potential lonelymoms out there - :)

Re: GCSE options

Hi all, thanks for the replies. I find this forum thing quite scary as I've never joined one before, but I suspect now that I am back to being a rather lonely mama, I will spend quite a lot of time sifting throught the various topics rather than looking for a job.... I will definitely speak to someo...
