Re: Roger Martin - trial

An estimated 5,000 pupils have been abused at Christ's Hospital: https://www.chforum.info/php/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=5209&p=142368&#p142368 It looks like the great educational benefits spoken of in "The Charge" were not received by TMF ... or the moderator who thanked him for hi...

Do these dull-brained musings about Kenya serve any purpose?

Re: Here's a hypothetical

I had to smile when I heard that at an Old Blues' Golf meeting that ERM had teamed up with Ken Grimshaw in setting up a school in the Far East. It might be true but you could knock me down with a feather if it was.... Ask Grimshaw - he has attended two recent Founder's Day dinners in Bangkok (quick...

Re: Why a teacher DOES NOT have to report abuse

Rob, John Stuart Mill, said: “Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing.” As an army officer you will know that the “befehl ist befehl” – superior orders - defense was not allowed at Nuremberg and it shouldn’t be allowed in mandatory reporting ...

Re: Why a teacher DOES NOT have to report abuse

Hi Robert, I hesitate to comment, but I think you show remarkable forbearance to Gregory and Lorrimer. Burr was not convicted until January this year "for nine counts of indecently assaulting the boys aged between 11 and 14 at Christ’s Hospital between 1969 and 1973" (to quote the news rep...

Re: Why a teacher DOES NOT have to report abuse

A teacher has a duty to report abuse and any suspicion of abuse. Haven't the recent CH teacher trials been reported on your planet? Perhaps you could catch up on the one where the teacher was considered by the headmaster and his deputy to be a "CH success" and quietly moved on to another ...

Re: Why a teacher DOES NOT have to report abuse

Hi Robert, we let off steam about that ridiculous fact on here couple of months ago. Misprision as it is known in law - the deliberate concealment of one's knowledge of a crime. It is astonishing that the ineffectual Mrs. May (Home Sec. / P.M. for over 8 years) hasn't taken the initiative to enact t...

However, there was an autho...

Re: Roger Martin

Hi Howard, I’m just trying to understand what is being said in this thread, not making any inference. I am grateful for your informed contributions to this Forum and I apologize if my question this morning was badgering. Comments have raised the question of what exactly the headmaster’s statement th...

Re: Roger Martin

So the police have not been made "fully aware" by the present senior management of all the incidents/allegations of child abuse of which the senior management has knowledge ??? - and their "fully cooperating with police" statement is technical and perhaps misleading?

Re: Congratulations to this year's Grecians and their new Headmaster

by Great Plum » Tue Aug 28, 2018 4:46 pm I think it’s because the school do the IB as well as a levels so I don’t think it gets picked up by the league tables... The ISC list includes IB equivalents. Results include scores in A-level, IB and Pre-U qualifications. Higher level 7 and 6 at IB and Dist...

Re: Congratulations to this year's Grecians and their new Headmaster

Christ’s Hospital pupils and their teachers are celebrating another year of excellent A level results. A highly impressive 53% of all Pre-U and A Level grades achieved were equivalent to either an A* or A I have just seen the list of Independent schools' results. I can't see CH on the list. Perhaps...
