Re: W.P.C. Davies

He was just down from Cambridge, and in 1951/2 he taught us about DNA and the double helix. I think that this was the first time ever that it was taught in any school world wide!
I have a report from him in 1951, written in green ink.

I think the line was set at 5"; I think that it was to save fuel.
The trough was certainly used when I was in Col A, 46-53.

We certainly had Malt when I entered Col A in 1946. I do not know how long it continued.

Re: Politics

I feel that some of the prob lem is, that we are all paying too little Income Tax.
In 95-96 the standard rate was 25%, and came down gradually till 2007-08 when it was 22%. Then there was a 10% cut to 20%.
Now we cannot afford anything!

302 was "O God of earth and altar" by G K Chesterton.

Re: Giving back to CH - some ideas....

Not a bad idea, but the Lord Mayor may find it difficult to visit; and the St Matthews day service would be more difficult.
The site could constructed to accomodate larger numbers, so we could reverse the drop in numbers when Hertford was closed.
The economics might be difficult.

Re: Daily Timetable

The same pattern was followed from 1946, except 3rd prep.
Col A had shoe cleaning (and inspection) before first prep.

Re: Is 26% Full-Fee Paying Pupils Too High?

The Court of Governors is also unhappy about the percentage of full feeing pupils. The answer is massive and successful fund raising. I am told if the fund raising efforts could raise £300 million, we would not need ffps. Cambridge recently raised 1/2 billion pounds. UnfortunatelyBlues have tended t...
