Re: Freemasons and questions to answer
It's funny how when you are young certain schoolmasters made you quake in your boots every time you saw them. Johnny Stein was one of those for me.

Re: The Old Blue 2018
Hands up for crug, flab and muck. I'm sure it was crug in the 70s. Maybe it later got changed to crud.

Re: Attitudes to sports
Used to love playing wall ball against the toilets at the back of Thorn B. Also impromptu footy games on the asphalt between between Mid A and Thorn B. A few windows were broken. I feel very lucky in my time to have played so many different sports at CH, something which continued at uni.

All this is incredibly sad
Looking in from afar on what has been going on the last few months with the 5 (?) prison sentences is incredibly sad. What those teachers have done to those poor kids (at least one of whom coincided at the school with me) can never be undone and lives have been wrecked. What is also incredibly sad i...

Re: I am returning my Bible...
Speaking to another Old Blue the other day, he had an awful story to tell about him. It's incredible the mark someone like that can make on your life that you still remember incidents over 40 years later. He told me that in class, the man in question used to make boys bend over with their head under...

Thank you Julian, that seems only right in view of the convictions. Could you tell us now if Ali Burns' posts were censored by the board or he eliminated them himself.

Re: Politics
I find it very hard to believe that Ali deleted his own posts, especially as he was warned several times and then all his posts were deleted. Looks like censorship to me.

Re: Sentence of Peter Webb referred to Court of Appeal
No. Historic sexual abuse is one thing, corporal punishment another. As others have pointed out, corporal punishment was the norm at that time. If every case of the use of the belt, slipper or ruler was reported and considered an offence then there wouldn't be space in our prisons. There were punish...

Re: Sentence of Peter Webb referred to Court of Appeal
I see Sillett has an MBE for charity work. Ironic that the only thing I remember him for during the 8 years I spent at CH was that we were all terrified of him, his temper and his ´tangents`(using a metre ruler to impart corporal punishment on young boys' bottoms).

Re: Sentence of Peter Webb referred to Court of Appeal
Excuse my ignorance Avon, but what's an SMC? Also, you say insufficient thought was given to the merger leading to some of what we are seeing here, but surely Webb and Burr at least, committed their crimes some time before the merger took place.

In the 70s it was definitely crug (or krug as some have written).
