Re: Death of Ben Sweeny alias Spoonbill
Rex, I have only just come across your sad post as i had wondered why "Spoony" had gone quiet. In 2005 your brother and I started communicating after he posted the following to Dick RUCK in this Forum. " Did you name your dog 'Eric' after Eric Swatridge, by the way? (Whatever became o...

Well done SPOON BALL. Your memory and brain seems to be still in good working order. I doubt you played against him though ! Part 2: I have just found out SPOONBILL ( AKA in real life Ben SWEENY) died last year. Farewell my anon friend, I enjoyed our comunications ! See you in the next life Marra, b...

SKIVING
Not long after the theatre was built and the arrival of Duncan Noel Paton, our last lesson on a saturday morning was drama. Some kids loved it but not me and my mates,it was a bit too much for us "manly " types. For several weeks we would skive off down doctors lake , far better smoking an...

At CH I Felt I had no connection with the outside world. My knowledge of ongoing matters during the 70's is very poor except for rock music and sport. Firstly I would like to thank the following boys for their musical tastes . Tony Price (Supertramp) , Guy Bohane ( Stevie Wonder) and Steve Barrett (...

I PRESUME I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO THOUGHT THAT THE HOUSEY COATS WERE BLACK ,SO WHY IS IT A BLUE COAT SCHOOL ? The two housey coats I've got in my house at the moment are definitely navy blue. Maybe I am colour blind , but all my photos look like black, and wearing them for 6 years I would bet quit...

WHO STOLE MY BIKE ?
If you were around in 1975 then it might be you ! I don't care now, but it must have been someone on the staff list or perhaps a jealous teacher's offspring ( weird phrase) who fancied it. If I had it back now, it would be highly unlikely it would be ridden by anyone ,so if you still have it forget ...

Re: Uniform
I think everyone turns their nose up at the uniform when first trying it on , but personally it was probably the clothing I was most comfortable in,even now 30 years later ! AS LONG AS THE SCHOOL IS ALIVE THE UNIFORM SHOULD NEVER CHANGE. I loved the britches, so comfortable and easy to wear, the bagg...

TOAST ???????????? TELEVISION ??????????????? RADIO ????????????????????? The nearest we came to any of these luxuries was around 1962, when the mini transistor came on sale. About a tenner if memory serves, (a lot of money in them days !) In Col B we'd smuggle 'em in, with the standard ear-piece, ...
