Re: Parental Contribution

Just a quick update for all you good folk on here. DD got a place from the waiting list at our first choice state school this week which she is over joyed about and is some compensation for the disappointment of CH. So all's well that ends well! I too, however, was thinking that at least we have had...

Re: Parental Contribution

I am unsure whether to be pleased ot not that my starting this thread has prompted so much discussion and debate! As I have said previously, I do not want to appear bitter and detract from those who have had positive experiences but....I do think it important that future potential parents have an aw...

Re: Parental Contribution

I have to say I was very surprised (and annoyed!!) to read about the weekly boarding places - when I enquired about this as a means of reducing the fees I was told it was impractical and not viable! I suspect these places are only available to those paying full fees....

Re: Parental Contribution

Hi Tulip :-). I share your anguish!! My fees came back double those estimated by the R.R and I really don't know why!! I wonder after reading your post whether maybe they are already taking equity into account as I do have some equity in my house - but it is only a 2 bed terrace so I am hardly livin...

Re: Parental Contribution

I truly hope for you guys they find a way of increasing revenue without upping your fees (or insisting on equity in your home being used which was my fear!!). I don't want to be the voice of doom and gloom and detract from the positive experiences of the vaste majority but I feel compelled to share ...

Re: Parental Contribution

Cupcakemom - this is my gripe too. As a single mum I seem to work every hour under the sun to provide for my children. If I claimed off the state instead I would no doubt not have had to withdraw my daughter from CH! A bitter pill to swallow!

Re: Parental Contribution

It is interesting that similar themes seem emerge which make the contribution feasible or not. Notably - low to middle income earners seem to suffer as a drop in tax credit,fr example, is not reflected in a drop in fees; living in parts of the country which are more expensive for the basics; other u...

Re: Parental Contribution

Dear All, thank you all so much for your supportive messages and emails. I am truly touched. I have spoken with the relevent persons and and have been reliably informed that thats just how it is. I appreciate that there has to be a system for deciding upon contributions but there seem to be a number...

Re: Parental Contribution

I am please that you were pleased with your news Fairy and I hope the outcome is the same for you Lonelymum. My fees were so much more than the RR estimated that have had to withdraw my daughter. Having turned down a full scholarship to another school this has been one of life's excedinly harsh and ...

Re: Parental Contribution

Great Plum wrote I don't understand why the school (foundation?) are so bad in getting the fees to you - surely you need to know what is going on! This has always been a difficult conundrum. Because the Counting House calculate fees for the forthcoming year based on your past year's income and outg...

Re: Parental Contribution

The ready reckoner has been off line since April. This means that since having all the up to date documentation required it has not been possible to obtain an accurate figure - not an ideal situation!! I applied at the normal time didn't get an estimate in writing...
