Re: Housey Rap, recent convictions

The bluster of Sillett blundering around a set of recently departed OB in the hazy summer, with his mix of faux-pleading and legal threats was a joy to behold and an absolute vindication of the fact he had been promoted well beyond his abilities. I'm sure the legal threats were merely copyright rel...

Disturbing.

Brings back memories of watching A Nightmare on Elm Street in the house common room on my squits and pretending it didn't scare the living daylights out of me.
But how did you manage to watch an 18 certificate film aged 11...?

Re: Mr Clippy

I remember talk of a "clipboard man" but have no memory of him ever being identified or arrested. Always thought he was a bit of myth, bit like Slender Man.

No, not McCall, someone else. He discouraged me from doing double maths A-level which was bad advice (especially as I repeatedly came first in the school in various maths exams)
If you look at the Highway video it’s McLean

CH videos

I think these were probably posted on here a few years’ back but here are some youtube videos from the Poulton era. Might help refresh some memories and aid those who weren’t there at the time put unfamiliar faces to familiar names: Highway 1989 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acZ9AFFCAlI Notes 13.3...

Re: How far did the rot spread?

My own take is that what has got a lot of OBs worked up is: (i) many of us realise it could have been us; and (ii) we know that although it wasn't us, it was probably people who we were friends with at school. If we all feel like that, what must parents think who actually made the decision to send ...

Re: Housey Rap, recent convictions

Crud has been mentioned in other threads on this forum. Mr McCall. A third person (Pattison)(sp?) is mentioned as being good friends with the "enough said" duo. Of course, there was still a lot of homophobia in the 80s/90s that often involved conflating homosexuality and paedophilia. Perhaps the ot...

Jeremy Gates was the only one who complained about being in the sticks. He got a job at Harrow and a couple of years later the IRA blew up his home at the school.
Blowing up his home because he complained is taking things a little too far

Re: What was the attraction?

That said, I also think there was a type of teacher who had zero interest in a social life, Omera, Shippen and Sutcliffe as examples and would imagine CH suited them in this regard. If you mean Roger Sutcliffe I'm not sure he fits into that category. He had 2 separate stints at the school. Whilst I...

Re: House structure

It was the block system when I went. Nearly went to LHB as that was were I sat the entrance exam, but I went to ThornB instead. LHB changed to girls while I was still at the school. I had left by the time LHA became girls too. I don't remember the name of the ThB housemaster, but he had a beard and...

Re: House structure

There were different structures for boys & girls houses during my time. The school was about 30% girls and 70% boys. Girls would stay in one house right through 7 years and rarely if ever moved. Boys would start in a junior B house and then move over to the senior A side of the same house on the UF ...
