Jeremy Gates was the only one who complained about being in the sticks. He got a job at Harrow and a couple of years later the IRA blew up his home at the school.
Blowing up his home because he complained is taking things a little too far

Re: What was the attraction?

That said, I also think there was a type of teacher who had zero interest in a social life, Omera, Shippen and Sutcliffe as examples and would imagine CH suited them in this regard. If you mean Roger Sutcliffe I'm not sure he fits into that category. He had 2 separate stints at the school. Whilst I...

Re: House structure

It was the block system when I went. Nearly went to LHB as that was were I sat the entrance exam, but I went to ThornB instead. LHB changed to girls while I was still at the school. I had left by the time LHA became girls too. I don't remember the name of the ThB housemaster, but he had a beard and...

Re: House structure

There were different structures for boys & girls houses during my time. The school was about 30% girls and 70% boys. Girls would stay in one house right through 7 years and rarely if ever moved. Boys would start in a junior B house and then move over to the senior A side of the same house on the UF ...

Re: Transcripts

I must say I think it's just not on that the transcript of Burr's appeal identifies the victims by both their firstname and surname initials. What kind of anonymity is that, when anyone with an old Blue Book or anyone who was in Maine A at the time could identify them with relative ease? Surely bet...

The rumour was that he became a lorry driver. No idea if true or not.

Re: Today's the day

Very interesting interview. I do not doubt Simon Reid's integrity and good intentions. He was one of my house tutors in the 90s and I have fond memories of him - he is a friendly, upstanding chap and hence I was very pleased when he was announced as the new headmaster. I am sure the school’s current...

Re: Who Knew What?

Marty! That story of Dobbie at the reunion is quite astonishing. Especially given the poor boy he was with. There are some very unsavory connections we could draw between CH and South East Asia, but I'm reluctant to go down the conspiracy theory wormhole. I am regretful I couldn't make it to the 20...

It sounds from the other thread that this was reported and statements taken
Yep correct. As I said, I didn’t see him but at least 2 others did and we all gave statements to the police last year (including the one who told him to leave).

Thanks for the offer LHA
