Re: RESEARCH - FLYING BOMB

David, yes, I did arrive in September 1944. I have no memory at all of the V1 incident being mentioned, and did not find out about it until reading about it some years later. You ask whether the boys were sleeping in the tube or the dormitories. I remember people talking about sleeping in the tube b...

Re: RESEARCH - FLYING BOMB

The Medical Officer in 1944 was Dr,Friend, not Dr.Scott, who took over about 3 or 4 years later. I don't remember Drummond, but presumably he worked under both in succession. Dr.Friend and Dr.Scott both lived in a large house called Stammerham, by the Doctor's Lake as stated, although only in one en...

Re: Now it reaches Eton

Like J.R. I often freely used the phone in the corridor behind the Dining Hall, once my parents had a phone installed at home. There was a phone by the central entrance to Coleridge during my time at CH, 1944-53. Outside office hours calls to the School Office were diverted to this, and normally one...

Re: CHOBA 65+ years on reunion anyone?!

Although I qualify to attend this reunion, having left in July 1953, I've not yet received anything from CHOBA.

Incidentally I'm 83, quite a long way off 9o yet.

Re: Lamb House Photos

Further to previous estimates of the date of the 1953? Jamb B photo, I don't know which term it was taken, but it was certainly in the 1952/53 academic year. Bamford, Pitter, William Miller and Arthur Dyball were my contemporaries, and Wiilam Miller and I were quite friendly and both left in July 19...

Re: Day Pupils

My time in Col.B (1944-54) overlapped with four day boys . They participated fully in all house activities, and only went home at night. Both the Evans brothers (D.C & M.C) commuted to & from Cranleigh on the Horsham-Guildford train, although when D.C. became a monitor he started living in t...
