Re: Identification.

Hang on a minute. I haven't lived in the UK for 14 years now, but are you all saying that there is still no such thing as a government issued ID card? When I first moved to the US, I didn't drive but it was incredibly easy to stroll to the local Department of Motor Vehicles and wait several hours (...

Wikipedia Entry?

A few months ago the wiki entry for CH contained relevant and measured references to the ongoing abuse cases. I see that this is now reduced to a single sentence.

No doubt the school - certainly proactive in this regard, if not others.

Has anyone a copy of the original entry?

Re: Resignation of Baker and emergency appointment of Hansford

The Band went to Hertford on one occasion and we marched the girls into lunch. I remember thinking how small the place was and in a town as well, compared to the isolation and size of the Horsham site. A very pleasant day and always nice to get out of the school grounds for a few hours. 99 Red Ball...

Re: Resignation of Baker and emergency appointment of Hansford

Bad form to refer to PMs.

I disagree on TOP being negative; it’s a statement that implies a degree of competition, if anything else.

Anyways, sexism. Where exactly? You’re a moderator, and ‘you’re letting this ride’ - on the grounds I was apparently sexist?

Re: Resignation of Baker and emergency appointment of Hansford

Where in my posts is there disparagement of Hertford? Regardless of my views on Morrison (which I am entitled to express and others are entitled to disagree with) I feel that simply referring to Hertford as the ‘Other Place’ surfaced a response which seems to be indicative of a wider sense of unhapp...

Re: Resignation of Baker and emergency appointment of Hansford

We must hold different views on the meaning of patronising. Which you will no doubt regard as a patronising statement in itself.

Re: Resignation of Baker and emergency appointment of Hansford

I see nothing particularly offensive in describing Hertford as The Other Place. I take it you all get the parliamentary allusion? As for Morrison - she was comfortably beyond her sell by date by the time she got to Horsham. So functionally not what was needed - regardless of how nostalgically people...

Re: Resignation of Baker and emergency appointment of Hansford

In terms of steadying the ship you have issues of how the school would behave on St Matthew's Day for example. [There was a student BBB - Bring Back Baker - campaign.]He came up with an absolute classic which was both mocked but also bought into, "It's all part of the pageant." In retrospect this w...

Such a shame that fell through. In that case, and others, I value their disgrace and disappearance far more than I value the actual truth.

Points very well made, Avon. and above that you place a governance structure of doughties from the Corporation of London massively ignorant of their responsibilities, what do you expect? Yeah, throwing in a bizarre cobweb-encrusted senile feudal relic of an organisation on top of everything really ...

Like rockfreak, I too am amazed by the fact that bullying, which was declining in his time, and declining still faster in mine (we overlapped but he was four years my senior) seems to have got worse in the 1970s and 1980s. For heaven's sake. Bullying isn't like smallpox. It doesn't decline as medic...

Is the behaviour of Sillett a matter of public record? If so, he should also be removed from CHOBA.

Do you know if Robinson married twice? This thread references an Elspeth Robinson but i seem to recall his wife had a different name.
Catherine Hartnett IIRC.
