Re: Letter to the Head Master

These types of claims are often pursued by way of 'no win no fee' or conditional fee agreement (CFA).We run all of our abuse litigation with this funding. There are a limited pool of firms who undertake 'abuse claims' (us included) and many larger firms on the wiki list will be insurer firms and mos...

Re: Karim's sentence hearing

Making the first sentences concurrent seems to me to be wrong and shows insufficient respect for those victims, but I suppose there are legal reasons for this? In my view Karim should atone for each victim in turn (and with a longer stretch for each). Out in five (or a bit less) and back to being t...

Re: Karim's sentence hearing

The first three counts were concurrent at seven years. Four given one year concurrent to run consecutively and the remainder given two years concurrent to run consecutively totalling the ten. He didn't show a reaction when the sentence was handed down and throughout showed little emotion even when t...

Re: Karim's sentence hearing

Just a brief update.

Managed to obtain a seat and sat through the full sentencing hearing.

He was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment to serve half, to register indefinitely on the register and also subject to a sexual harm prevention order

Re: Karim's sentence hearing

It appears that the court is restricted to the seven seats and the judge is unwilling to allow standing or for the jury box to be used.

It may be I am unable to update as there are some in attendance who for understandable reasons take priority.

Re: A comment from a Sexual Abuse Victim from CH

Great admiration and respect, firstly for disclosing and for pushing with criminal proceedings but also waiving your entitled anonymity to support others. The School appears to have failed many and save for some negative press have evaded any culpablity in these matters (when they are as culpable as...

Re: "Petition 2018" to Council for a "Truth & Reconciliation Inquiry"

I'll defer to the legal experts but I'd have thought any inquiry will be more difficult if there are active police investigations, or even ongoing civil litigation, so as not to prejudice the outcome. On that note, Id be interested in how public civil litigation is if anyone can shed any light? If ...

Re: A post on behalf of one of the Dobbie/Husband victims

It takes great courage and bravery to make the step into the unknown and make disclosure. For each person that does, it provides as inspiration and support for another. Nobody knows what the outcome will be, the timescales involved nor the intensity of the proceedings until they have made such step,...

Re: The trial of James Andrew Husband and Gary Dobbie

The trial seems to be progressing with a number of witnesses having now given evidence. My last attendance was the reading out of the Police interviews with Husband and I believe the first Defendant (not sure if Husband or Dobbie) has now been sworn in....?

Re: The trial of James Andrew Husband and Gary Dobbie

Unsure if anybody is aware but causelist does give a brief summary of the events of each day along with the case reference which can be used to ask the court for any updates.

I cannot see that the trial will last six weeks unless there are 50 plus witnesses...

Re: The trial of James Andrew Husband and Gary Dobbie

I think Verisona Law went to one of the sentence hearings. I would be interested to go but it is a bit of a trek. That won't stop me though. We have been to a number of days during the various trials. A little manic at the moment, but hoping to attend a number of days on this to try and support tho...
