Re: The band leading the People’s Procession at the Cenotaph tomorrow
I agree, they cut away too quickly rather than making the most of the music. There didn't appear to be any other bands in proximity, so when they returned to the procession it was very quiet. The Band sounded very good and the Drum Majors were excellent. After initially saying "it's the hospital...

Re: HUSBAND APPEAL ??
Do we know if the family member who tried to get the complainant to drop the case is going to be prosecuted for witness intimidation and obstruction of justice?
Very serious offences.

The Wide Game. Do people remember this initiation for squits? A bit off thread as not CP per se, although is banned now, as are all initiations. Everyone would go down to Shelleys Wood and the objective was to hunt down the squits, bring them to the pond and throw them in. You would end up dripping...

Re: Resignation of Baker and emergency appointment of Hansford
No Golfer I would never want the closure of CH. What I want is an apology - and that is it. It doesn't work like that. I have got a strong feeling that your apology might be the route to compensation for [many] others. I don't think an individual apology to a former pupil in addition to compensatio...

Re: Politics
This is nonsense. The Brexit we will get will be one that no-one voted for. We need a second vote on the Brexit deal that is eventually agreed. Because the deal we will get is not really Brexit. And if we get a "no deal Brexit" then it definitely wasn't what we voted for. So then we absol...

Come on - I doubt very much that David is racist, but the statement he made is objectively offensive (par ticularly in light of the abuse issues we've been discussing). Change the ethnic groups to which David, the offenders and victim belong and would you still defend his right to express what he f...

Re: The Old Blue 2018
Which brings us to the St George's flag. Apart from churches (it's the Church of England, not the Church of Britain, after all) and at football matches (same reason), its use was unknown till about 20 years ago. It has however now become an aggressively chauvinistic symbol. You may dispute this, bu...

You said that you agree with saying that a group of criminals of Asian descent involved in evil sexual offences are "practicing diversity" and you said that this is because it is a "fact". I felt it was a racist association linking Asian ethnic identity with pedophilia. (You als...

I'm so glad I started this thread. The above threads echo my original thoughts. I do however, get annoyed at the constant use of the word 'Diversity'. . Me too. Just accept that the Huddersfield 20 were practicing diversity. The concept is a foreign invention not suited to these green and pleasant ...

And let's not forget the tickbox on Pastoral Care.
Very ham, presumably the Marketing Department are editing it now.
Just tell us what's been happening, rather than using it as a marketing vehicle

Re: Resignation of Baker and emergency appointment of Hansford
The Band went to Hertford on one occasion and we marched the girls into lunch. I remember thinking how small the place was and in a town as well, compared to the isolation and size of the Horsham site. A very pleasant day and always nice to get out of the school grounds for a few hours. 99 Red Ballo...

Out of fairness to Canon Porteous, this is the Facebook of the erstwhile CH chaplain who describes himself as a former priest. ABOUT MICHAEL Not a lot. Went to Bathurst Teachers College, about 1956, taught Cranbrook, Sydney for a couple of years, then Highate School, London. Greycoat Hospital (scho...
