PS:- The Clerk is certainly aware of the site. Whether he's aware of this thread, or visits the site, I really don't know..... So an E-Mail with a link to this forum to the School Orifice, (Sorry! Should have spelt 'Office'), should do the trick, then ! I wonder if he cares; I wonder if the ...

Re: Tunnels and Chemicals

Ta, muchly, Simon. I spent plenty of memorable time in Nigeria trying to sort out their default and in Brazil trying to sort out Nigeria's default and in London trying to sort out Brazil's default. Now if I had known it was you I'd have asked to be excused Lagos duty; that was even worse than CH. M...

Re: Tunnels and Chemicals

Plus ca change, just like the rain on Sunday afternoons at CH. Talking of which, it's raining here in NY, unfortunately didn't do that last Thursda...

Certainly no swimming costume until you could swim the 5 lengths; I can't remember about the dive. More interesting was the annual summer visit to the beach near Bognor Regis; I'll allow the "ladies" maginations to run riot! As for the gym; can't remember any splinters but 2 memories stick...

That's your memory. Certainly you and we had them up to July 1961.

and lack of ability to either understand or speak English Is CH using immigrant labour these days? In the G.O.D. all we had to cope with was a broad Sussex accent, eminently speakable and understandable. Only a year or two after you we had Italian (male) and Finnish (v e r y female) kitchen staff. ...

Anyone remember the mamoth games of Bulldog inside the athletic tracks in the summers of 90 and 91. I was a squit trying to take down First XV players! How did I not get seriously hurt? You didn't get seriously hurt because you were fit; your muscles etc. could take the strain / bumps. You either b...

Sorry to be cynical but I learned just one very good lesson at Housie; the person you see is about to stick a knife in your back.
Saved me many many times (and in 4 cases that I know of absolutely literally)

Re: My G, you went to school on another planet

I'm an old f**** listening in on this series of memory lane nostalgia that I find really baffling. I go back so far that one only went to one House for one's school career. Everything was "common" - individual studies only for the House Captain and his Deputy. Grecians' privileges (apart ...

I remember on my 3rd form I think that Maine B was being used as an overflow cos of the flu epidemic.... They sent us all home when over half the staff were in bed... Lucky ones  Somewhere I have a photo of Col A at lunch parade during the great Asian Flu Pandemic. AFAIR there were 3 on parade...
