Re: The band leading the People’s Procession at the Cenotaph tomorrow

My wife has found a clip of the band at the cenotaph yesterday that someone has posted on YouTube which in my view is far better than the Beebs effort. I couldn't find that one but there is a particularly good and long one of CH Band in the Lord mayor's procession https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rb...

Re: HUSBAND APPEAL ??

The process seems pretty comprehensive but perhaps far too much so. For example, having leave to appeal turned down by an experienced judge then the possibility of wasting thfree other judges's time seems stupid - it suggests that the initial judge is incompetent but he would never have been a judge...

Re: Teaching staff

How time rushes past. Dippy nib pens and messy ink-wells in my day. Biros etc forbidden. Calculators were still far away on the horizon, though I doubt CMES would have ever allowed them if they had suddenly appeared off the horizon. In my professional exams one long paper involved a large number of...

I suspect that there were far more - somehow I got mixed up between an Italian staff member and the disinterested lad...

Re: The Old Blue 2018

A question never asked is why are there so many children of Anglo origin either in social care or running wild in the streets? In many of these cases the parent appears to be single (nothing wrong with that as such) but often dysfunctional with drink or drug issues. What kind of parents are letting...

Re: Corporal Punishment by CH Teaching staff

The problem that I have is that in my time at the school the two areas seem to be directly linked - corporal punishment and sexual abuse and I will add a third which was bullying. I think, Rob, that that is a bit generalised. I got put in the sicker when a bully decided that my face should be twice...

Re: Resignation of Baker and emergency appointment of Hansford

I knew the consequences - Newsome would have beaten him (he was pretty good looking) quite a lot and then he would have been expelled. I had to report to Lorimer that all was well (the Housemaster) and he knew I was lying, and then sent out search parties. We found Pengelly out cold next to the rai...

Re: Politics

The mere thought of another vote or referendum and the possibility of the UK having to continue being ruled by European despots, alcoholics and wannabe's sickens me to the core. I have no problem with some sort of trade deal on tariffs as long as it isn't all in their favour. I don't want their cou...

Re: The Old Blue 2018

On the 'flags' issue, as I recall, anyone has the right to fly the Cross of St. George, but MUST have local authority permission to fly the Union Standard, (Union Jack). Which I feel could be considered offensive. Do I have the right to fly the Red Hand of Ulster flag? OTOH the Union Jack represent...

Re: Identification.

Hang on a minute. I haven't lived in the UK for 14 years now, but are you all saying that there is still no such thing as a government issued ID card? When I first moved to the US, I didn't drive but it was incredibly easy to stroll to the local Department of Motor Vehicles and wait several hours (...

Another here who has no problem with an ID card, I’ve had one in various countries and it certainly made life easier there. I did like being registered as a Guru!
