Graham is right in his assesment of the current process. An 80% student in greater need will be given priority over a 98% less needy student. That still, of course, leaves the tricky decision as to what constitutes greater need. Housing, parental death, parental divorce (perhaps less of an issue now...

In response to JR - I am not sure who reads this site. I think that some staff do read it, but they may not comment publicly. As for the CH Admin ( I assume by this you mean the Foundation) who knows? I only found out about this Forum by default. When I comment, I do so personally. My views do not, ...

What is need these days?
Given that CH admits students on the basis of academic potential and need, I would be interested to hear what you thought need meant in the 21st Century. We can make a judgement about the academic potential of a student based on exam results and primary SATs results. Need is a far more subjective el...

The Old blue community do have an important role and the school does need the support of Old Blues to continue with the unique funding arrangement we have. At the moment, as I pointed out before, the school admits students on a needs blind basis. As far as I am aware, a student is required to pass t...

It is a photograph taken by Neil Fleming and then adjusted using a Photoshop filter. It is a stunning picture. The figure at the back is the current Band Master Terry Whittingham. The picture was the best part of the magazine - which due to a number of factors too long to explain was otherwise medio...

Regardless of the fact that we might not want the school to change, it would appear that at the moment change may be forced on the school in order to accomodate the increasing costs associated with running the place. Our maintenance bill will be huge in the next decade as we try and repair and resto...

I take your point Hendrick, but times have moved on a bit! We can only recruit from the pupils that apply. Many more it appears are applying from families with more money than in the past. This is probably due to the fact that the decline of the assisted places scheme and better marketing has opened...
