Re: Help the newbie!

Welcome to The Forum.

As a Moderstor and and an 'Oldie' on here I'm afraid I can't help much either.

Just keep ringing The School. I'm sure there will be someone there at some point.

Re: Expelled

Back on thread. In my day when people were expelled they were sent straight to the Sicker from their houses after being given the grim (or welcome) news, before being sent home. This always struck me as being a bit like spending your last night in the condemned cell next to the gallows before being...

Re: Expelled

Bromine/Bromide in tea was the rumour in my all boys day at CH. I have since been told that it's use is pointless and more likely to cause physical harm. At the risk of offending the Mary Whitehouse brigade amongst us, sexual relations between 13 to 16 year olds these days is normal. Illegal but nor...

Re: Expelled

Post a comment to the above ?

Hmm - maybe not other than to say I'm now not surprised to see why The School went downhill rapidly.

Re: Expelled

Just before the barn fire (which I didn't know about) there was a big drugs story in the papers about CH. Maybe '88 or '89. I think maybe 6-7 were expelled instantly for smoking pot..... despite alcohol being widely tolerated and far more deadly for 14-15yr olds. No idea how it got in the papers be...

Re: Roger Martin

Quite possibly, but I wasn't aware of it at the time, and at the time I wasn't married to Miss Marple who came into my life in the late 60's and is almost a good enough investigator as I am !!

Re: Roger Martin

TMF Good afternoon. Are you never satisfied with honest statements? RichardB Good afternoon. Please explain to me why you thanked TMF for his post. I really am at a loss here. Right. "Listen very carefully, I shall say zeees only once !" ( God Bless good old British Comedy ) Howard: I have never me...

Re: It's time for Sillett, Cairncross and Poulton to comment.

The part of Baker’s letter (which is dated 24th February 1984) that relates to Webb reads as follows: “ I write to inform you that, with regret, I have received and accepted the resignation of Mr. P J H Webb. Mr Webb has taught at Christ’s Hospital for eighteen years, and has made a considerable co...

Re: Expelled

Probably kept quiet as 2 pupils were arrested and interviewed. Both cautioned I believe. The farm house was abandoned, rotting. The barn was still in use as it was full of hay/straw. It wasn't deliberate arson, just an accident. It was along the route to Southwater, through Bluebell woods (I don't ...

Re: "More than a Brother" A H Buck and Edmund Blunden

This is part of why I'm so pissed off with Poulton in particular. Several friends were instantly expelled from CH by Poulton for being caught having sex, and treated to patronising sermons about it. The entire school even had to endure one cringe inducing lecture in Big School where he talked about...

Cambridge Uni as well, so I believe, so she must have had something going for her.

Re: Roger Martin

Isn’t 6 months or so fairly average for this? You are pretty much spot on Plum. Since Operation Yewtree the through put of sex offences in the Crown Court is between 60 and 70% of the workload. Cases with young witnesses are supposed to be tried within 8 weeks. Where the accused in in custody the c...

Re: "More than a Brother" A H Buck and Edmund Blunden

Sounds like I'm going off topic but wait... I'm a great admirer of Holly Walsh, comedienne, author and OB. I have NEVER heard her talk about her Horsham days. I'd love to sit down and have a drink and chat with her about her recollections of coeducational days at CH. I bet it'd be a real eye opener...

Re: Roger Martin

My assessment is that there were at least 50 from World War 2 on Richard If your assessment of the possible total number of abuse victims is anywhere near correct (and I believe you are probably privy to information that supports this figure) then we have a scandal that completely dwarfs the Amplef...

Surely JR you mean: was he allowed to jump?

I think that would depend on the HM in situ at the given time.
