Re: Ampleforth and Downside

The Good Schools Guide says about CH: "The pupils know they're lucky to be here. For every student who gets in, four or five are turned away. Most pupils love to sing and the cathartic feeling of their voices joined together, soaring past the frescoes in the chapel is one of the moments they squirr...

Re: It's time for Sillett, Cairncross and Poulton to comment.

I wasn't going to expand on this thread too much. However, on Saturday my wife, youngest daughter and I were having drinks with friends who live local to us. The man happens to be an OB and wishes to remain anonymous. He was at Horsham after my time and doesn't have much time for the school. Needles...

Re: Letter to the Head Master

What is starting to worry me slightly, and I'm not having a go at Plum Senior or one or two others with strong staff connections to The School , is that I'm getting the impression some are starting to get the attitude regarding OB's, "Well, we gave you a fantastic education, and we read you 'The Cha...

Re: Letter to the Head Master

When a headmaster is writing lies to parents or writing references for people instead of calling the police, that is about personal responsibility and accountability. The day to day running of the school is the heads role too. The clerk is involved but i imagine the Almoners only do high level audi...

Re: Letter to the Head Master

Your consistent bias against the current CH administration borders on the snide, but pleases some. Reid has become the focus of a baying pack on here. They could consider the complexity of his job and that he has more important work than futilely attempting to satisfy a very small number disaffecte...

Re: Letter to the Head Master

How about passing a law that all male teachers at boarding schools should be chemically or medically castrated before employment is commenced ?

That should do the trick !

(inserting tongue in cheek !!!)

I remember a condition of going to CH was that one had to have been vaccinated against smallpox.

Quite true Robert.

I remember going with Mum to our GP to have yet another vaccination prior to Horsham and still have the marks on my arm to show for it.

As far as Dobbie is concerned, general feeling is he could face more charges depending on-going investigations.

Re: It's time for Sillett, Cairncross and Poulton to comment.

Cairncross is pretty active on Twitter. Maybe you could try asking her for comment on there? I don't call it Twitter Do you really mean twitter, Marty? (It's all in the name. Transpose the W for an A. That'll do it !) Taitter? Or do you mean transpose the I? I don't call it Twitter and the censor b...

Re: LinkedIn profiles

LinkedIn is useless for me as a way of attracting work. My clients prefer to keep their heads down. John Smith drug dealer is not clever. Yes, I can see why it wouldn't work for you, and I guess reputation amongst instructing solicitors is much more important. I don't like LinkedIn but it does work...

Re: It's time for Sillett, Cairncross and Poulton to comment.

I really think the above example staff members will HAVE to comment after completion of all the cases.

Failure to do so in my book is admission of culpability.
