Re: The hearing

Re: Today's the day

I acknowledge the heed for catharsis.
I also appreciate that some will find an independent review to be of benefit.
Sometimes you must acknowledge that it is not just what one writes, but also what one does not that can be telling.

Re: Today's the day

I would suggest that the past tense might be used when referring to dealing with support. I was trying to say that Mr Reid's words are not the vacuous ones of politicians, but that they come from the heart. Of course I did not mean that one should not criticise - I am suggesting that he has the inte...

Re: Today's the day

The interview on Radio Sussex that I have just heard should prove once and for all what an exceptional Head Master and human being Simon Reid is. I do hope that people who have had the opportunity to listen to the broadcast will have been able to gauge the absolute integrity with which he speaks and...

Re: Richard 'Dickie' Dawe

A true gentleman, who played for Harlequins and had a very wicked sense of humour. I remember him setting us a "surprise" test on 1st April 1967 when we stayed at school for Easter. Andy has already recalled his cricketing exploits. From my memories as a former prep school Head Dickie was ...

Re: Congratulations To Joe Launchbury

It was a simply titanic performance from Joe.
I trust that Gatland will book his plane ticket for the summer now, even though Jones seems unconvinced by him.

Re: Did I dream this?

David Newsome invited me back to invigilate A Levels in 1976. My goodness, it was hot. My memory is of some boys being allowed to take exams in the old gym in swimming trunks, then going straight into the pool. I was not so fortunate. One fact I do remember was having to bow to the President of Comm...

Re: Old Blue County cricketers

A SG Whittingham came on as first change for Sussex against Kent at Tunbridge Wells today. Howard H will hopefully be able to confirm whether or not it is the same chap but I seem to recall reading in The Blue of a highly rated CH 1st X1 player called Whittingham progressing through the Sussex CCC ...

Re: CH featured in London Financial Times newspaper last weekend

Nope. It is a direct photo of Grecians East marching recently. The numbers are small due to it being taken during the exam period.
