Roger Martin

The one I remember was a housemaster in Prep A during my time (1962-1964, then Ba B then Col B). At the time he owned a Landrover Safari, and his registration number, which he transferred from car to car was WAM 115. Before that it was an Austin J4 or JU250 type caravannette, with column change gear...

Model Railway Room

When I was there 64 - 69 the model railway club was behind the Manual School. At that time we had the nameplate to the Schools Class loco "Christ's Hospital". Is that still there or has it been stolen / sold?

Rail Crash

A great pity about the station buildings being demolished. They were magnificent. During my early days, 1962 on, most boys used to travel to and from the school by train. In the prep school you had to pack your trunk two or three days before the end of term for the luggage to go "Luggage in Adv...

The Tube

The tube in my day was also a scarey place, if you were on your own. THere were rumours of Ghosts, especially since pupils had committed suicide down there in the past. The main tube was indeed used as a dry method of getting from your house to the dining hall with out getting wet. We used to march ...

Re: Corporal Punishment......

So who got the cane, the slipper, or anything else? Pupil's don't know how good they have it these days - they just don't know they're born! (I sounds about 85 now!) Add your stories, reasons for punishment, and what happened. My only experience of corporal punishment was 6 whacks with a Dunlop Gre...

Re: Zobs

the "master" to whom you refer was EJ Wolstenholme, No - that's not the Zob I was thinking of - I think I remember Wolstenholme, and he was a lot more cuddly. This Zob was rather authoritarian, a housemaster, and quite feared - hmmm - can't get the name though. I might be able to help her...
