Re: Corporal Punishment by CH Teaching staff
We can't discuss corporal punishment without mentioning Bob Sillet who was notorious for giving "tangents" to miscreants in his science lessons; only slighly worse than him asking "Have I promised you a test?" Was "Bend down, face east, stay down for six"... Ouch!!

Re: Jokes, please.....
I went to the gym earlier and noticed a hole in my trainer, just big enough to get my finger in... anyway, she has made a formal complaint and I banned for life.

Re: Jokes, please.....
An elderly gentleman went to the doctor for his annual medical check-up and took his wife as he was hard of hearing. The doctor said "I need a stool sample, a urine sample and a sample of your semen"; the old fella askes his wife what the doctor said and she replied "He wants your und...

Re: Brighton based tutor?
We used a chap in Henfield for our daughter's math's GCSE; is that too distant? If not, let me know and I'll try and dig up the details although it was 5 years ago.

Re: Does anyone know the school latin motto?
So where do I remember 'Vis et spaienta' from? I was an Oliver Whitby scholarship entrant in 1969 - perhaps it was the motto on my badge [or "plate" as we used to call it].

Re: Does anyone on this forum go to church?
The threat of violence by a christian in defence of a person held dear when the alleged offence is a posting on civilised forum seems incongruous at best.

Re: Does anyone on this forum go to church?
Obviously it is no longer necessary to go to church for a funeral. I have attended two humanist funerals, and they are as moving as any I've been to in a church. On was held in a crematorium, the other in a humanist "facility" opposite HMS Mercury just off the A3M in Hampshire. In the latt...

Re: Does anyone on this forum go to church?
Arthur C Clarke said "The greatest tragedy in mankind's entire history may be the hijacking of morality by religion." I notice the BBC wheeled out a bishop to give a moral perspective during the recent debate on dignity in death / assisted suicide; he said life is god's gift and it's up to...

Re: Tattoos anybody?
I like tattoos generally but I really like to see extreme tattoos, piercings, scarification, etc. on others; I live near Brighton and it can be a real eye opener to see people displaying themselves and their "art" - truly compelling. Of course many of these things are ill-advised but what ...

Tattoos anybody?
No, not the military kind... I've acquired two tattoos in the last 9 years - both are relevant to me, discrete and tasteful and I may well have more in the coming years. It strikes me that this is not the sort of thing a decent OB should do; do any other members of the forum either have tattos or st...
