I have recalled the name. I think the OB who rowed in the Boat-race and became President of CUBC was Dingle. Any further info?

Sorry to hear that William Philip Cathcart has died. For me he was the best thing that came out of CH. He used to take a pair of us fishing at Frensham in an old Willys Jeep. He became very friendly with a white hunter named Atherton who had purchased Frensham little Pond. Sadly I never sat to him b...

I went to CH on a West Gifts Scholarship from Reading. The same year as Sinclair Wynshank. 1948. There was no charge to my parents. I understand that the West family were local Berkshire worthies who also endowed similar opportunities from Newbury. JHGS

I read somewhere that Buckie left school at 16, enlisted in the army,was discharged as under age and returned to CH to complete his studies before proceeding to University. Any truth in this? JHGS

Over 60 years ago c.1950 I was returning home at the end of term from Liverpool Street when an elderly lady began to ask about CH. She told me that her father had been a pupil in London and that one of the favourite occupations of some pupils was to get a good vantage point within the school premise...
