Re: Transcripts

I've said before that my husband worked with Burr for several summers on the Ffestiniog Railway, he's confirmed from the photo that it is the same person. PPdeWB was dismissed as a guard for committing offences that would nowadays have to be reported to the Rail Accident Investigation Board, such as...

As there has been extra traffic lately, are you in need of extra funds, Julian?

Re: James Andrew Husband, Pickering Town Council

My husband was a Rotarian for many years. In the U.K. The Paul Harris Award is not given lightly. If I recall correctly, the Rotary Club has to give Rotary's own Foundation US$1000 before it can nominate somebody they consider outstanding to receive the award. The fact that Pickering Rotary Club gav...

Re: Curious

I'm still not convinced that the good of the students is taking a higher priority than the once good name of the school.

Re: A post on behalf of one of the Dobbie/Husband victims

We know not if the school is doing anything to help and support you at these difficult times. If not, then the school should be. I think I speak on behalf of all former pupils in expressing the hope that if there anything that any of us can do to help, you need only say. You have all shown incredib...

Re: The Deputy Head Writes...

I'm confused by this I’m so proud that 98 per cent of our leavers, many of whom have faced high levels of adversity, leave us as confident young men and women, having secured places at top universities and who often later return to help future generations of pupils either financially or through advi...

Re: Science teaching in the 50's

While potential athletic and musical talents were closely examined and encouraged, it would have been far more useful to focus on developing advanced science skills than on hobbies. At the end of our time in school, both of us were resentful of getting little recognition (we didn't get academic but...

Re: Thornton B Sword

We were given quite a collection during our time in Borneo - but left them all behind, we were advised against bringing them into the UK, but I can't remember who told us that. I know we had much the same armoury as John, but I'm not sure the blowpipe had a fixed bayonet, I think it was separate! I ...

Damian Le Bas, Radio 4 Book of the Week

Did anyone hear this morning's Book of the Week https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0b4ztdd#play It is written and read by Damian Le Bas, who was at Horsham - his Mother was an Art Teacher there after he started. He is a gypsy and was terrified of anyone learning his heritage.

I'm not sure I hold a grudge, I just wonder why I toed the line and didn't rebel at some of the pettiness - I would now!!!

Welcome back. Too few girls on site these days. Only Katharine still in there pitching away. They've all decamped into a distaff huddle on their Facebook page.
Welcome back Ruthie, I remember you posting before.

Ruthie is far younger than me, she's a product of Horsham not Hertford!

What a find! Interesting that I can see names of 4 of the 6 of us in the Senior VI that term, I did the lights for Quality Street, can't remember how Cott (Susan Cottingham) was involved. The Competition would definitely have to be complete by the end of term!

Re: Tom Lawson: the interview

You will be pleased to know Katharine that there is now a Hertford building at CH. So named in order that Hertford is not forgotten. It is a "social" building with coffee shop etc. Pretty well the antithesis of Hertford but I am sure that it is very welcome and will be well used. What I can't work ...
