Re: Looking back

I don't remember having a careers interview anywhere including CH. I decided at the age of 8 what I wanted to do so maybe that's why I didn't have one. When I didn't get into medicine after repeating my A levels I had to go through clearing and chose 2 courses that also required biology, chemistry a...

Re: Quick questions and (maybe) answers Hertford Memories thread

All these pervy stories have reminded me off our Field Trip to Box Hill. I'm quite confused about how we ended up going there. Was it Biology or Geography ? I already stated on this forum that we didn't do a geography Field trip so now I'm confused. Anyhow , I was in the sixth form. Lesley Bonham, ...

Re: Snow

we haven't had proper postal deliveries, either, though he did come on foot yesterday. Unfortunately I am awaiting a prescription which was posted First Class from the Surgery a couple of miles away on Tuesday and it has not yet arrived. I phoned the Surgery yesterday (Friday) asking for an emergen...

Re: How Different Was Your Home Life From Your CH Life?

My son went to Imperial College from 2003 to 2007. In his first year he lived in one of the Southside halls divided into staircases. It was called Falmouth Keogh and looked as if it hadn't changed since the 60's - sparce, old wooden furniture falling to bits. It reminded me of CH a little. The place...

Re: Looking back

The restrictions applied throughout the school really. Once sorted into A, Alpha or B forms your path through the curriculum was set. I was an all-rounder, interested in most subjects but frustrated by the inflexibility of the CH system. One of my favourite subjects was Art (it still is) and althoug...

Re: Looking back

Hello Alex, I remember you well. It's disconcerting that you and englishangel thought that I was no longer in the land of the living. Where did you hear that? I think you mixed me up with Joanna Moodie (Hulme) who was also in our year and in 3's. Sadly she died in November 2005 from cancer after a v...

Re: Looking back

If you mean the one with part of her head showing, yes I think that's me and Ailsa behind me but I'm not 100% sure.

Re: Looking back

I think I can see myself (or part of me) and Ailsa. It looks as though we were sorted according to height with the shortest at the back! By the way Ailsa looks exactly the same now as she did then, hardly aged at all!

Re: How Different Was Your Home Life From Your CH Life?

I came from Islington, North London. My parents were from a working class background but were aspiring to be middle class. We lived in a large, rented victorian terraced house which was comfortable. My father was on his way up through the ranks from apprentice to management by the time I went to CH....

Looking back

I joined the forum a few days ago but wasn't sure where to start. I couldn't find an 'Introduce yourself' section that I've seen elsewhere so I decided to start a new topic here. Hertford is where our school was and though I have been to the Horsham site to visit a friend and old girl (old blue does...
