Re: The Story of Old Blues in North America - BCOB Book Project

Has the student body been canvassed as to whether it wants to be spammed with a highly selective set of biopics on Canadican OB?

I can only assume the two sentences passed were in my view lenient, because of their age. Or maybe they were Masons !!!

Two down, literally) and two to go.
I thought three to go? Or is the power of the Square even greater???

Re: DAMBUSTERS AND C.H.

In the RN section I didn’t get a gun and could smoke too, when Chief Bradley wasn’t looking. After proficiency I spent my CCF time in the RE's, pretending to build an assault course in the Bird sanctuary. Also a haven for smokers. I think the RE did the same too in my time - a week of building a co...

Re: UK’s Top Schools - where’s CH?

I would have thought that the success in moving children up the social strata (if that is the correct way to describe our society), would be more important than exam success etc. I think you’ve hit on an unwritten objective of every public school in the country. League tables just seem to fill out ...

Re: DAMBUSTERS AND C.H.

By the time I was at CH the opt-out was colloquially known as Bocker Squad and I’m not sure it retained its noble origins, seeing as scouting (provided you could endure the scoutmaster) was on offer to anyone who didn’t want to wield a gun. It was more a sort of smoker’s collective. In the RN sectio...

What odds on the whole site ending up as flats for Russian oligarchs?
Three years later? Pretty likely, I’d have thought.

Re: Morton Peto

I’m not sure we can discuss this. Even if Peto is de facto and legally dead, I think all sorts of due process probably needs to be concluded before we can start talking about it on an open forum. We should wait until the new Head writes an dull and platitudinous statement about the issue. It is howe...

I’m clearly missing something, but quite apart from me there are surely others who don’t know Tucker’s Law. Please enlighten us?

Great topic. Much better than doddering on about how often laundry was changed.

CH taught me puerile, entry-level swearing but I managed to build on that and now repeat Tucker's Law twice daily in the mirror to ensure my invective stays in tip-top condition.

Interestingly, 74 is the age at which you are legally required to stop writing conceited and broken-brained letters to the newspapers.

Re: CH, Assisted Boarders and the TES

I believe the FF % has been reduced from 26% to about 20%. But, apart from future planned percentages, there are other crucial questions. Have sufficient donations arrived to cover the resulting increase in costs, are some economies underway, and/or is there a current increased running deficit? Int...

Perhaps that explains his highly suspect habit of drawing the bone structure of the human skeleton on naked boys in class?
