Re: University Challenge.

I take it that that was when 'Blowna Gasket' was question master and before 'Paxo Stuffingman' took over ?

I loved that one-off TV comedy drama based on Uni Challenge some time ago Can't remember it's title or cast members but I wish they'd show it again.

I watched quite a bit of the US Senate hearing as well, yesterday.

I found it hard to get my head round it all.

I have to say, I found her testimony along the lines of her '5 minutes of fame. Cruel, I know and probably wrong. However the Americans do love their theatre though.

Some people just have a natural mathematical brain. Col B certainly had one during my time. Freaky will remember him I'm sure.

Re: All this is incredibly sad

It is true that obtaining a conviction in a rape case is low. I seem to remember from training in the past that the crime of rape is recognised as the hardest to obtain a conviction. The CPS obviously are aware of this and think long and hard before even proceeding. It's a shame Richardb is taking a...

University Challenge.

I've watched this for years. Tonight was the icing on the cake for me. One team captain did a brilliant Frank Spencer impersonation. However, the great Frank Spencer would have shown a far greater intelligence than this Uni team captain. Are these people really the way forward for the future of this...

Re: Attitudes to sports

The master i/c of swimming and gym was Mr JH Edwards. He was never called a ‘coach’. But the verb was used for school team training. JHE was a pleasant chap, Cambridge BA, with a son in the school and clearly was not an intellectual. He only taught the most junior forms. JHE was known as 'Fish' Edw...

Re: Explanation of the 'Tube'

On my last visit to CH, I asked if I could just pop down the tube for a quick look. NO, I was told. Why, I asked. Something to do with Health & Safety, I was told. Arr ! The good old Elf and Insanity ploy, I thought. Covers a multitude of sins. Not really unlike the present Three Wise Monkeys, or Os...

Fun is good. Abuse is a crime. Not that I am suggesting for one minute that any named person is guilty of such. Would the site moderator care to explain his comments further? NO - Or in a response well embedded in my brain. NO COMMENT. Sorry Tim but Fun is mutual enjoyment without criminal offence ...

Re: Explanation of the 'Tube'

We were often allowed to use The Tube when it was raining to go to Dining Hall. There's no way it extended to Sharpenhurst! I didn't know about all the other passageways though. Hopefully someone can set up the occasional tour, it would be very interesting Highly unlikely though that would be good....
