Re: Hammer blows to CH finances

VAT on fees is ridiculous, so many families will be priced out of private education which would then put extra pressure on state schools with a sudden influx of pupils Charging VAT on education is a slippery slope- what about educational activities outside of school, what about university tuition f...

I certainly don't remember any alternatives for veggies at Horsham 1958 to 1963.

Re: Corporal Punishment by CH Teaching staff

Manson was a real enigma. He never commited or actually took part in killings but had that strange power over people to do it for him.

Re: Corporal Punishment by CH Teaching staff

Not sure where I stand these days on corporal punishment. It never did me any harm at Horsham.

However, sexual assault and rape by school staff on pupils is a completely different matter. But we won't go into the why's and wherefores of capital punishment at this stage.

Re: Seen in passing

A question to ponder.

Why is the Housey lad leaving church on his own, as it seems ?

Adoring Mum and aunt immediately behind him ? Big possibility.

Sorry Great Plum, but as you have already suggested about me, I do love a great conspiracy theory.

Re: Resignation of Baker and emergency appointment of Hansford

What did he change? Well the school became a mixed school under his headship! Probably the biggest change in the history of CH. We were all shocked to come back to find that Baker had been dismissed. To paraprhase Oscar Wilde, "‘To lose one head (Newsome) may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose bo...

Or to put it another way, "Please die as soon as possible after stopping work. You are a drain on this country !" Hang on a minute ! 'New Dep Head required by CH due to retirement.' Hmmm !! I am SO very pleased I took early full retirement for health reasons on Union advice after winning an employme...

Re: Corporal Punishment by CH Teaching staff

You know I love you lot, as you represent the 'body and soul' of CH. Guy Perricone (not an old Blue) lasted one year as Treasurer & Chair. He did not understand CH and he can not be blamed for what he wrote to me - he followed the line. In just three weeks I am addressing the council - 2nd November...

I vaguely remember there were one or two Catholic pupils during my time. I believe they wer...

Pedantic I know rockfreak, but I think you have Lyn Paul and Lyndsey de Paul confused.
😊
It's nice to be old enough to get confused !!

I have received the October CHOBA newsletter, but not this letter, but then again I didn't receive any response to an E-Mail to the HM some weeks ago. Persona Non Grata , me wonders ?? Re: University Challenge.

Just watched tonight's episode. Another completely un-matched pair of teams competing. Must make sure that only the brainy uni teams get a shout at the final

Nice to see Frank Spencer's wife, (Betty?) has now carried on the beret tradition from last week.

Medication time now, Nurse.

Re: All this is incredibly sad

Well, the FBI have now got a week to investigate further thanks to Trumpton. I don't honestly think a month would be long enough but I suppose a week is better than nothing.
