Re: Does anyone on this forum go to church?

:offtopic: To go back to my grandmother - completely off topic, I know - she used to bounce me on her knee and sing music hall songs. It is delightful now when I sing the same songs to my own grand-daughter; in fact she has now (aged 2 and a half) started asking me to sing 'The Galloping Major' and ...

Re: Windows Scam warning

When Maria was born we chose her name partly because it was not already in the family (or so we thought) but also because it was classless and international - quite useful, as it turned out!! I AM A SELF-FULFILLING PROPHECY! Named Maria because it is international, classless & ageless... Marrie...

Re: Windows Scam warning

I am told that it works well with Finnish too - especially as the chances of finding a Finnish speaker in the UK are comparatively slim. My son-in-law once avoided what would have been a legitimate imposition of points on his driving licence for speeding, simply because he held only a European lice...

Re: ROBERT MACK - THE BLUE

I might have told this story before on here... but it bears repeating... When I moved to Finland I asked on this forum about other OBs in Finland and was directed to Keith Battarbee (BaB 54-62). I googled him and found him to be teaching at the local University. At the time, with no other connection...

Not sure that this is the correct thread, but just picked this up from http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-britain-school-uniforms-20110911,0,4597904.story By some accounts, the world's first school uniform debuted in England about 450 years ago at Christ's Hospital, a school for ne...

Re: Old Blue stars in Madonna's new film

Just saw an review ( http://bit.ly/o3a5Bc ) of Madonna's latest film W.E about the life of Mrs Simpson. Madonna directs James D'arcy (La A 84-91) who plays Edward. Sounds like a shocker of a film but the more due to the direction and script rather than the actor..... James was Simon at school! I ha...

That date rings a bell....

I had a meeting today at 0930 that went on a bit longer than expected and in the end included lunch - very nice - but as I was scheduling the next one, I realised the date...
