Pupils and staff alike here have taken an interest in the new 'Blog' website (that's infact been going for about a month already now; who knows how the Guardian knew about it and no-one at school did!) - particularly in working out who 'Yevgeni' is. Lots of people have infact independently come up w...

Precisely - how can a handful of monitors know what the whole school wants?

I can't believe that a school with such noble pastoral foundation could be so selfish to the majority. Yes, one small example (although I'm sure there are many better ones) is when the guest speakers come in for a Grecians' Lecture. Some of them are really interesting people and have some good stor...

I nearly applied but didn't when I weighed out the pros and cons, and thought that although there are some advantages, they're not really that big; and I wanted time to study for A-Levels; and I don't see what people find so appealing about doing dress parades and drill DTs in the mornings. I agree ...

Well he plays (after a fashion!) the piano and violin - neither very useful in this connection!. But he likes his music and will have to stop lessons when he gets to Housey because of financial constraints I'm pretty sure that if you're past grade 5 standard (i.e. have passed grade 5) on a instrume...

I attended a service in chapel once (can't remember what for) in which a young pupil was reading the lesson. He made the classic mistake of pronouncing the word "Gentiles" as "genitals" - most amusing! 2 or 3 years ago, the unlucky person doing the reading in chapel tripped over...

Health & Safety...

The 'health and safety guy' here reportedly had a rather odd accident in a crane, in which he was in the 'cockpit' to 'test' how high it would go, until he went over the limit, which was when the whole crane fell and slammed back down to earth. He was thankfully and amazingly not seriously injured. ...

Almost certainly in the museum - it's a fantastic web of information with loads of stuff that you'd never imagine was there. I recently got a family friend back in contact with a relative [who's a old blue] with whom she'd lost contact, by simply going to the museum and looking for the name, and all...

We should not take the school's actions too finally: they even banned the Greenpeace website. PS, Green peace must surely have the most inaccurate name ever. Some of their protestors and protests are anything but peaceful - infact a minority can be classified as violent thugs who enjoy breaching th...

I just thought I'd add, to those who may not know - that it's not the whole school in general that has banned this site - it's the nice people working in the ICT department, who have condemned it as 'URL redirection.' :? I'm guessing that must be the bit at the beginning, where you have to click aga...

7. If, as you claim, all the Council of Almoners’ major decisions are made collectively, why did your announcement to the Common Room of the proposal to knock down housing at King Edward Road and Close at the beginning of the Michaelmas Term 2004, come as complete news to several members of ...

Any Turkey Twizzlers on offer?? (I gather than these are selling out all over the country now in supermarkets, as everyone wants to try them to see what they're like!) Thankfully not! But had turkey drumsticks for tea tonight incidentally though. The döner kebabs are the best though - a piece of...

Yeah, everything you mentioned still exists. There are staff flats in the new boarding houses, pretty much the same as they were before the refurbishment. But I'm not sure if people living in the railway cottages are connected with the school or not?

The houses are amazing inside - in one of them lives one teacher alone! You could literally have two people living separate lives on each floor without even noticing each other. Last summer holidays, I got to spend two nights in one of those new Lamb teachers' houses, absolutely massive and really l...
