julian, would the offer of some more permanent hosting be useful? Yes, an offer of permanent hosting would be greatly appreciated. In order to keep costs down I'm using dyndns, a router in my study, and a box of my own at home. This has meant the hosting has been close to free. If anyone can provid...

Clever exam answers....it's that time of year again!

With the GCSE/A-Level exams approaching, these have started appearing again on email - examples of funny or clever exams questions... Saw this one today that was new to me:- A College student was asked to write a short story in as few words as possible that included Religion, Sexuality and Mystery. ...

What does the day involve?

I'm a keen clay-shooter, but limited experience with a rifle.

Regarding price - I'm not telling, other than to say it wasn't anything like the initial price on ebay. There were no bids on that, and I came to a mutually suitable price with the seller - she made a profit, and I paid a reasonable price. Regarding the settles - we didn't have those in my day in Le...

Settles were the old-style desks, yes??
I'd love one of those too - they had the CH letters down the sides didn't they?

Cast-iron sounds right - seems too solid for lead, and lead would have been an odd choice I guess.
They don't seem to rust though - wouldn't cast iron have rusted?

CH Wall plaque/crest...previously for sale of ebay...

I collected a ?lead (very heavy) wall crest/plaque from an ebay seller this morning. Felt it was important that this was bought by an Old Blue, so found a little cash to be able to purchase it. http://www.chforum.info/pictures/chwallcrestsmall.jpg (CLICK here or ON THE IMAGE for a bigger version) ht...

The only council I'd add is not to "spam" The Clerk - I'm sure he's more likely to respond to some sensible clear questions, and a constructive response is unlikely to be gained from that (I know I wouldn't respond if I was spammed with 10's of emails on the same subject!)

I know I really wanted to be one at the time (funny how much things matter when your 16!), but with hindsight I'm glad I wasn't - I'm sure I'd have done even worse at my A-levels if I'd had that as a distraction as well! You couldn't nominate yourself in my time (as far as I was aware - unless of co...

Old School Rules - used to be Leigh Hunt notice boards...

Is there still an old copy of the ancient school rules anywhere?
There used to be a copy on the notice board in Leigh Hunt (B I think) - it included things like "a regular bowel action is encouraged" along with other savoury ideas!

I was always rather proud of the marching - is it unique in the world? I guess one way of viewing it is that it's the practice required in order to march through London on St. Matthew's day - now that IS a privilege that the school has done well to hang on to. How many other schools can claim to clo...
