Re: Less flamboyant CH teachers

To the best of my knowledge, Robert, (Rocker), Ray is still alive. I met him at an OB's day a few years ago. Age had taken it's toll physically, but certainly NOT his dry witty humour.

So Warren Gatland decided not to select Joe Launchbury after all for the Lions tour.

What a classy reaction though from Joe:

Maybe Warren thought CH the was the 'wrong sort of school' !!

Some of the coffee cups in M & S are almost the size of kiff bowls but with handles
Come on John !! Handles are for pansies ! Are you not sure that they could be soup bowls for people who don't like using a spoon?

Re: Less flamboyant CH teachers

It’s a very big task to collect information on so many. I’d be interested to read the results, but rather anecdotes than bare facts. Even so, encouraged by Post War Blue here’s a contribution. Mr Matthews - (I don’t know his first name) Non Oxbridge graduate. Chain smoker with much stained fingers....

Re: Old report card

The only things I vaguely remember from my CH reports are, "He must try much harder" for my first years at CH, and then something along of the lines of, "He really should take lessons more seriously" towards the end of my scholastic years at Horsham By that time I had already decided that I was off,...

Re: Old report card

I have absolutely no idea what happened to all my school reports.

When my Mother passed away and my wife and I cleared her personal effects, they never came to light. Probably a good thing.

Am I the only one who as a squit had to serve kiff in those bowls? It took more than a few tries to get it right so that fingers were not scalded, nor bowls tipped up as one tried to set them on the table.

I did it quite happily in Coleridge B, and therefore gained the nick-name, Tetley !!

More on Steve Hilton this week. His missus is the well-heeled Rachel Whetstone who is a vice president at Uber. Uber have been getting all sorts of bad publicity recently and Hilto does seem to have a habit of getting involved with dodgy people of one sort or another. Whatever benefits he was charg...

Re: Time to bring back Kiff Bowls?

Some years ago touring in France our B&B served our breakfast coffee in bowls just like Kiff bowls for size and shape. I knew how to pick mine up! Quite so Robert . I remember well being surprised when travelling by road down to the South of France and stopping at a roadside bistro/cafe for breakfa...

Re: Housey Slang.....

For some unknown reason the word 'drut' recently came into my head so I thought I should post while I remembered! Whether it was a word peculiar to Maine A in the mid sixties or a more general term of CH slang I don't recall at this distance. It was a derisory term for somebody considered wet and p...

OK public schoolboys (and girls, although Katharine seems the only one game enough to venture on to this site these days). The article 50 button has been pressed, the other 27 states have had the gauntlet thrown down, where do we stand? The Brexiteers are gung ho. I have composed a poem for them, b...

No thread from Dave by the Sea has been removed by me.

In fact, he is a forum moderator, but has not signed into this site since September last year !

Re: Can We Donate Our Dead Bodies to Christ's Hospital?

A somewhat gruesome thought, imho. A friend of ours was successafully treated for cancer with a new trial drug, and he has donated his body to one of the top hospitals in London. He lives on the south coast and the cost of transporting his remains has a ceiling, meaning he will have to pay a bit on ...
