Re: Four weeks to half term
Glad he is getting himself under control!! And 7am is certainly not a lie-in!! Not when you have to drive for at least 3 hours.....and I will probably LEAVE at 7am, not get up then. Sob, sob! And when I then drive back with DD fast asleep beside me. Oh joy. Still, at least I get to eat all the...

Re: Current reading matter
I have and it was brilliant. Made me laugh aloud. Read it when it first came out so knew I would enjoy One Day, but the sheer amount of blubbing took me by surprise. If you enjoyed 'One Day', try 'Starter for Ten' by the same author. Absolutely brilliant and an easy read.

Re: Current reading matter
Yes - he is my DD's close friend. I really enjoyed the book! I am reading "Pride and Prejudice" (nearly finished) - my first ever Austen at the age of 47, which is shameful, especially as I did A level Eng Lit. Loving it too. Got about 5 pages in and suddenly realised that she is a comedy ...

Re: Saturday Telegraph
I have it - interesting article but do think the Torygraph should have included more girls in the photos. It makes it look like a boys' school with a scattering of girls in the 6th form! Esp as the first name on the original school roll was a girl.

Re: 40 Years on 1971/72
I have ancestors from Bristol with the surname Gwilliam - lots of them buried in Westbury-on-trym churchyard. Unsurprisingly, it is of Welsh derivation. Maybe she and I are VERY distantly related!Caroline, Damaris maiden name was Gwilliam, very unusual. Never heard it before or since.

Re: St Matthews Day Parade
Cannot believe that there were spare seats - wish my relatives had tried that. Anyay, they saw it all, even managed a hug and a chat with DD, took video etc. Were the choir good? Slightly biased as DD was in it - hope to be there in another year.

So do they march from St Paul's to the Guildhall? And where do they march FROM in the first place? Have relatives planning to be there so have to pass on the info.
