Re: The Leaving Hymn

I am fairly certain that there is a recording of the hymn on "Music for the Festive year" which may still be available from Amazon if not from CH. I have the music and the words, if all else fails. .... and it is designated for my own funeral. I just hope I get sufficient warning of the co...

Re: Old Blues Day

On my rare visit to the forum these days, I was saddened to here that some of us are unwell, but so heartened by the courage inherent in Old Blues. OB Day was indeed wonderful, but would have been all the better if those wonderful ladies fighting the b*****s could have joined with us. Next year, I a...

Re: Volcanoes?

Home at last! Very grateful for John's offer .... if we had got it sorted (flights from Treviso to Alicante were unaffected), I might even have made it to OBs Day. Jonathan simply had to get home, and by calling the embassy, he was told that he could board a "secret" Embassy bus that would...

Re: Volcanoes?

OK ..... DBTS and family here ... in Venice. Despite the beautiful surroundings, it is, as John says, it's all very stressful. Judith should be teaching, Jonathan wirth finals round the corner, Oliver with A levels the week after next and no sign of when we will be home. Our car is with a friend in ...

Re: Swine Flu.

I don't.

One of my friends has just got back from the Sahara with a very nasty bug - finds it difficult to get up in one go, severely halitosed and has developed the hump.

I think she has camel flu.

Re: Change of Name - is it true?

I think there's enough in that note to confirm that existing members are unaffected. However, I do wonder about potential future members who might not even get as far as enquiring whether or not they are eligible, when at face value the name implies that it's just Old Blues. Were any other alternat...

Re: Old Blues Weekend (Wearing Full Housey)

What a gorgeous opportunity for cross-dressing! The girls could all wear full housey (so they would not feel second rate) while we males could appear in greys, Harris tweed coats, bloomers and gym slips.

Awful man! Though I hate what he says, I defend his right to say it .... and the BBC is right to follow the rules. But ....... whatever was a man of DD's experience doing? The meeting was abominably chaired ....... no discussion of issues, just an arid slanging by panel and audience (and was one of ...
