Re: Did I dream this?
Thanks all for the clarification, I'm not going mad. Actually, Bill, that photo of Leigh Hunt B brings back memories and I always have a vision of Phil Hughes wearing flannels. I'm not sure if I ever wore them though as I have no recollection of ever in my life having worn a cravat. I have enough pr...

Did I dream this?
Chatting to a friend of mine recently about smelly socks at CH, I assured him that in the summer term we were allowed to wear flannels and a white shirt and blazer instead of the usual uniform. I was at CH from 70 to 77 and of course 76 was that summer, the hottest on record I believe (we used to go...

Re: frieze in dayroom of infirmary
I remember being in the sicker one Easter term in the 70s during an epidemic of chicken pox. There were about 40 of us down with it but I was the last in so was also the last out, having spent the last four or five days on my own. The doctor (Hoskins was it?) let me convalesce upstairs in the dayroo...

Ooh it's like an Agatha Christie novel . Give us a clue, what house were they in as presumably we collected the shilling in our houses.

Re: School Debates
I remember a couple of good ones in the 70s with Rex Sweeney particularly holding sway. Refresh my memory please - were they held in the little dining room next to the main one? I say little tho' it was probably about 200 m2!

Re: Apologies for my absence........
jhopgood, I've had that very same scam several times now. Always an Indian or Pakistani voice, sometimes male sometimes female, phoning I think from USA and often at ungodly hours like 7 am on a Saturday. I saw through it the first time straightaway as they kept saying I had problems with Windows an...

Re: Politics
Big shift to the left here in Spain in the municipal and regional elections, Freaky. Corruption and cutbacks have finely caught up with the ruling right party and people are fed up. The 2 party system which has been the order of the day since Franco died looks to be over as new ´people's` parties ha...

Re: Residential assessment?
What is all this residential business? Never happened in my day - just a medical when our private parts were looked at as we all stood naked in a long line in front of some doctor in London!

Re: Neill the Notorious
A lot of people connected to CH seem to have died in the last year. RIP Neill.
I'm going to get philosophical on this first day of the year. We are but a drop in the ocean. Some just make a bigger splash.

Re: Politics
I think things are a lot worse here Senti. In Britain you hear of people buying garden gnomes or kitchenware on their expenses. These guys here were spending hundreds of thousands of pounds with what are called black credit cards. One guy visited his girlfriend in the Canaries 32 times in two years....

Re: Politics
Freaky, there’s a mini revolution going on in Spain now with a new political party formed only 6 months ago by ordinary people and led by university professors called Podemos but which is already a major force and could even win the elections next year. They are trying to sweep clean the awful cases...
