Pinky Palmer married? I am pretty sure he wasn't up to 1978. Didn't he make sure the younger deputy house matrons were happy at the school. I just wish I could remember who was our other deputy house master / tutor. Richard thinks it might be Mr Stratten but I would love to get the definitive answer...

For the 14 years I was married to a nurse, I was definately made to feel like I was stopping a nurse from doing her duty. And whan she got pregnant, How could I possibly do that to a nurse!

That attitude always made me laugh because it came mainly from married senior nurses.

Those who have been watching the thread on 'from what did you drink your tea.....' will know that I was bidding on something else on eBay. This is it. I didn't get it.. pipped at the post by someone else (not an Old Blue) who collects CH memorabilia. Interestingly, it gives the motto - as in about ...

I won't go into long arguments one way or the other. I am a Catholic so you would think that I would support the patient's aims. I do believe that abortion can be too easily done and with too little thought for the emotional consequences. I do not in any way shape or form agree with what this total ...

Mary said something that made me think of a follow on to the original question in this thread. My second question would be, how did your friends at home react to you going away to boarding school? When I left North London to go to Horsham, I lost every friend I had back home. They all treated me lik...

Okay, one more time, Is GrE a particularly musical house or do all the musical specialist go there.

I don't think we ever held it or if we did, it wasn't taken seriously.

When did it start to be a serious event?

I remember doing a roaring trade when I was in the sicker for chicken pox. For 50p a go, I would breathe all over some willing pupil or let him touch a pox spot so that they could get time off school. Those of us in the ward would take turns at KV and earning some extra pennies.

I was just wondering if there are any more written examples of how CH is seen by outsiders/future pupils.
I am sure we all have dozens of stories about how we have interacted with peoples perceptions of public schools but I am genuinely interested in discovering what people think of us.

I seem to remember Mr Lorrimer also being known as Osram.

It had something to do with the receeding hair line and the beard he had grown making him look as if he would look the same which ever way his head was set.

Remember, GrE is the musical house :P Erm do you mind me asking what you meant by that. Does it mean there is a specialist music house? When I was there, drum majors could only come from Mid A which I thought was unfair because I always fancied doing it. Mr Elliott offered to get me moved into Mid ...
