I can confirm that Richard still looks like Richard! Saw him and many others at the 2004 OBs Day and I thought the majority were instantly recognisable.

But, Spoonbill, I do remember Iain Harris, but I have to admit I don't recognise you!

Big School films 1973 onwards included Zulu, Charade (Cary Grant/Audrey Hepburn), Shalako, When Eight Bells Toll (early Anthony Hopkins), The Italian Job.........

didn't have the same carnival atmosphere when they moved the films to the theatre.....

.........DNP and extravaganza go together well in the same sentence.

I was reminded the other day (as it was on TV) of Barnes B's production of The Happiest Days of Your Life (1975ish). Somewhere I have a photo or two - - I haven't worn stockings since then....

Just to confirm what loringa has just said - Dr Newsome was believed to have been pushed (over opposition to co-education?) and Baker wasn't over popular at first; Newsome being a hard act to follow. I think many long-serving staff left early on in the Baker era.

Agree with Davebythesea about it being solemn - perhaps not so much now with the dropping of the nunc dimittis etc. Also, it may have depended upon the gravity of the headmaster - the late David Newsome was good at solemnity I thought (but many didn't no doubt). I was deeply moved every time. Do you...
