Re: favourite comfort food at Hertford
i've never suceeded in making a rice pudding anything as wonderful as we had back then. The Mon would go to collect the big tin from the kitchen. The anticipation! Admittedly, there were a few that loved the thick leathery black skin. Meg Gunter, now... absolutely relished it. She'd always send her ...

Re: Punishments at CH
How miserable for you to go through all that Angela. I could never bear to dish out any puinishments when I was a senior, I thought it was very cruel, and who were we but mere pupils, just a few years older than juniors? Punishment , I believe then and now-is the job of school staff to administer. ...

Re: Punishments at CH
Sixes Study! There seems to have been a period of years in Sixes when the Study were allowed free rein in dishing out punishments. I feared and dreaded them '64-'65. when I was made so utterly miserable. I couldn't cope with always being in trouble at all! But I've written enough about those days, I...

Cleared paths - yes definitely!
There was a terrific thing in House for putting milk out on the snowy dorm windowsills to make "ice cream"!

This is a serious matter. I have done some research, Frances. Clairol Shimmer Lights shampoo and conditioner. Recommended both by blondies and silver foxes. Purple products - but don't be alarmed - it's because purple is the opposite in the colour spectrum and helps to create a pretty silver. My sis...

Re: Happy Birthday Angela Woodford.
40! 40 is nothing! At least I haven't gone all grey, I console myself. Just a few grey hairs round the edges. A tiny touch up with a bit of L'Oréal, and I'm ready to rock and roll. Think of the free prescriptions! And I can't think of much else I'd get free. Now I have to learn to drive a gia...

Re: Happy Birthday Angela Woodford.
Thank you very much indeed! A landmark indeed. 60! It feels weird. But now life's changing completely. Moving... new bloke ... new studies! Running, Andy! I'm slightly anxious on slippery surfaces and longing for when the weather warms up a bit. The half-marathon isn't that far away! I barely...

Re: school scarf
Spoony, I would knit you one, if given loads of dosh upfront for the purest, most beauteous wool. A gentleman such as yourself would not tolerate a hideous acryllic horror, I do see that! The knitting group to which I belong meet in a Wool Shop, and group members get a discount on the purest...

Re: school scarf
Certainly not part of our uniform,Frances. We had a small scarf in our house colour - royal blue for 6's! But, late in life, I've got a CH scarf knitted by Mrs Plum.Fjgrogan wrote:I don't think the college-style scarf was ever part of school uniform. I bought mine from either CHOGA or the CH club.
