Re: When You Left CH, Did You Cease to Have Access to the Musical Instrument You'd Learned How to Play?

She has reached her target, I believe. From her Go Fund Me page it looks like she’s about £250 short. For a final nudge just think of the sublime horn solo in Tchaikovsky's 5th symphony. I discovered that work in my house record library at CH. At about the same time I was into Sergeant Pepper - onl...

Re: Roger Martin

I have absolutely no doubt that the relevant department of the Sussex Police by now are fully aware of the current situation and the feelings that have been aroused. In view of their ongoing investigations for more possibe charges, you can bet they monitor comments being made on this site for backgr...

All this is way over my aged brain.

I seem to dimly remember getting a LOL in my stand up comedy exam.

Re: Should there be a separate sub-forum for the “historic abuse” threads?

Squizzing happened at the start of every term - it has been described here http://www.chforum.info/php/viewtopic.php?p=44806#p44806 and the following page. Just flicked back to read those posts from your link Katharine. Sounds terrible, bordering on abuse. My wife Jan went to a secondary modern all...

As TMF said above. There are a very many OB's with you on this one.

We are all sick of constant cover ups.

Re: Congratulations to this year's Grecians and their new Headmaster

Christ’s Hospital pupils and their teachers are celebrating another year of excellent A level results. A highly impressive 53% of all Pre-U and A Level grades achieved were equivalent to either an A* or A I have just seen the list of Independent schools' results. I can't see CH on the list. Perhaps...

Re: Address to the Governing Council help please

Interesting, James Arnell, James Maclean and Nick Atkinson (if it is the right one) are all near contemporaries of me, so were in the school during the tenure of several of the 5 convicts Which will make Rob's address even MORE interesting. I don't think the fire-buckets filled with sand trick will...

Re: Phone boxes

I developed all sorts of mad ways of answering it to get the caller of the phone sharp, form answering "hugh, pugh, barney Mrcrue, cuthbert, dibble and grump - trumpton firestation here, what is your emergency ?" to just answering saying "hello is John there ?" and pretending i was making an outgoin...

Re: Help the newbie!

I first kitted out a 2nd former 9 years ago and then renewed her kit subsequently. Sports kit was fairly rigid in the early days but relaxed as the years went by. She was sporty and in a variety of teams and so used team kit (I never really got my head round that, but I never ended up paying for it...

Re: Should there be a separate sub-forum for the “historic abuse” threads?

Katharine and I were contemporaries at Hertford. Like her I was not aware of anything sexual going on. "Squizzing" was a bit bizarre. There was a fair bit of downright unkindness by house staff. Teaching staff hadn't a clue what was going on outside the classroom as far as I could tell. For me the ...

Very slightly off topic, but last night I watched a TV programme, 'Inside The Court of Appeal'. One of the appeal applicants was a certain Mr. DOBBIE.

Hey-Ho. Keeping the name in the spotlight?
I think it was actually Dobby as in the house elf.
Close enough ! Which house ???

Re: Should there be a separate sub-forum for the “historic abuse” threads?

I quite agree. Julian ??? Yes - as a separate area separate to General Chat - non CH. A suitable title might be " Horsham Historical Abuse" or similar (I haven't heard a peep about this type of abuse at Hertford but if there was some ......) Yes there was abuse at Hertford but it has got rather bur...
