Good news about Patrick Duncan

Julian,

Just to confirm my email the other day, I'm happy to say that Patrick Duncan has turned out to be very much alive. He's living here in Edinburgh - a friend of mine met him last week at St Peter's Church, Lutton Place.

Death of Bill Pearson

A little embarrassing to have to ask this, but did anybody make a copy of the press report I linked to above? Seem to have forgotten to do so myself, and the page in question has been taken down. Google no longer has a cached version, and it hasn't been archived at Archive.org. I'd really appreciate...

Michael Cherniavsky

I well remember Cherniavsky - I had him for history for a while. He was promoted to Housemaster of BaB - shock of curly hair and somewhat distracted manner. I believe he is now deceased. A nice obituary of Michael Cherniavsky by Michael Craton (MA 43-49) is here: http://www.adm.uwaterloo.ca/infoipa...

The Rev Charles Patrick Maxwell Duncan doesn't appear in the current (2004-2005) edition of Crockford's Clerical Directory . He was listed in the previous one (2002-2003) but the details provided were long out of date: he was said to be still at CH, which he left in 1992. The mystifying thing is tha...

Cherniavsky & crosswords

David, Mr Cherniavsky (?sp) required that every pupil in his classes complete the "Thunderer"crossword by 9 am or else. Since it was very Classics based, he never had an exam failure (including the fact that everyone did S level) in the 13 years up to when I left. (He wrote the crossword!)...

Christopher "Bomber" Nicholson

Happy to say CWN is quite undiminished and still running amok in Bedford, where he was Master of the Middle School at Bedford Modern until 1998. When he retired they brought out a small book, A Tribute to Christopher Nicholson , filled with typical tales. Contributors included David Newsome, Michael...
