Re: When the girls arrived..
but I wonder what effect the disruption in midstream had? Bear in mind that in those days the norm was to study a subject for two years and just have exams at the end, not the bitesize chunks they do nowadays! It wasn't good. I was half way through my O levels when we moved to Horsham. It was diffi...

Re: When the girls arrived..
But Vonny, compare that with the dormitory set-up that we had at Hertford before they built the cubies in upper dorms; I definitely appreciate that we had it good compared to years gone by but it was a backward step when we moved to Horsham. That said, if I could do my time again, I would rather be...

Re: When the girls arrived..
Vonny was around at that time I believe from previous postings. Not sure whether or not she still visits the forum. I was and I do! When we moved to Horsham in 1985 there were two houses that had been converted, Barnes and Coleridge. So yes, we girls were greatly outnumbered (not that we saw that a...

Re: OLD BLUES DAY - 2015.
Depends on when in the Michaelmas term. I am pretty sure it used to be held in the first few weeks of the Michaelmas term when I was still at CH and just after I left but seem to recall they moved it to April time shortly after as it was a better time of year for those at uni.... I may be wrong (wou...

I got a bible and a prayer book in 1988. I was a house monitor and think they were only given to those who were monitors. I stand to be corrected though!

Fees
A quote from the Mail today....
"Although boarding fees are £28,000 a year, the school is rare in offering almost all its places for free or a reduced rate through a charitable scheme which funds 70% of pupils' fees."
I beg to differ from what I've read on here!

Me too. I actually slept through it all, the first I knew of it was when we were woken up by Miss Lindsay, our housemistress.Avon wrote:

Glad there wasn't as much damage this time round though.

The Storm
Having been at Horsham during the 1987 storm and seeing the devastating aftermath, I am hoping that CH did not suffer too much damage in last nights storm. Anyone know?

Walking Through History & Barnes Wallis
Has anyone been watching this series on Saturday evenings at 8pm? In the second part of the series which was shown last Saturday 6th Tony Robinson visited Dorset, the area I live. My dad was actually in the programme (filmed last summer) as he witnessed the testing of the bouncing bomb in the 1940's...
