Re: CH Closed. COVID19
In the late 60's we finished term a few days early because of a flu epidemic. I've no idea how our parents were contacted!

Re: Neil Simms
I think he was responsible for the abolition of PE at break (just before my time) as he was fully aware that, administered by people who hadn't a clue what they were doing, it did more harm than good! I babysat once for his children. A welcome respite from the bleakness of the House! I also failed E...

Re: 1968 and all that
Slightly off topic, but does anyone from that era remember any piss being taken out of CMES's surname? He was known as 'Clarence', 'Clarrie', Milt. But that was it. But maybe I was just very naive!

Thanks. I was just trying to understand/justify why people might stand up in court and offer that support.

Re: Trial of Gary William Dobbie
Do you have to believe in someone's innocence to be called as a character witness? Can't you say: As appalled as I am by these accusations I can only say that X was a great help to me at a difficult time, and I never felt uncomfortable in his/her presence? Or, for example: Ronnie and Reggie were a g...

Re: Trial of Gary William Dobbie
I had confirmation classes with J H-M in that flat. He may well have moved after a short time when he and his wife had a(nother) child.

Re: Trial of Gary William Dobbie
Whites would have been there in your day JR. Being down that end of the Avenue I used to see staff coming and going. I remember Tod, Cherniavsky, Aitken being there. There must have been others. It was always the mysterious house behind the big hedges. The Chaplain's house in those days (late 60's) ...

Re: CH fundraising - a bit of a rant
An interesting idea, Julian! Perhaps do both: increase (rather than reduce) the number of full fee- payers in the UK to fund a CH overseas?

Re: Proposed demolition of old CH kitchens & Wardrobe
From a post by Matthew Holdsworth on Facebook: ... the kitchens have not been used since around 2008 as they were 'life expired' and since that time the kitchens have been a huge portacabin in approximately the location of the Deps club next to Coleridge.

Funny. I thought that you joined the same time as me (or even before). I went in 1964.
