Does anyone else remember the compulsory cold baths that were de riguer in Prep B in Mr Pink's reign? ..... after prayers and nose-blowing at the end of the beds, the queues of shivering little boys that were required one after the other to plunge right into a bath fillled to the brim with ice cold...

That was another question, lol, why is a first year pupil called a second former? Because previous to 1966 (I think) there was a 'prep school' for 9 - 11 year olds and they were first formers... Not in my day, Matt. You went straight into Prep House at the age of 11, so there must be another reason.

Took my entrance exam, somewhere in London.

Failed the first time on Math(s).

Passed on second attempt.

I remember that Mr. James & Mr. Eagle, (Housemasters Prep A & Prep B), were in attendance on both occasions.
