Re: It's still tough

Ah! I was talking about the increased contributions to teachers pensions that came into effect this month.

Re: It's still tough

The above seems somewhat strange to me.
Not sure which part seems strange - I'll clarify if you clarify!!

Re: It's still tough

I was going to give them a ring and ask and then someone kindly sent me a PM with the info ;)

We DO need some transparency- every April is a scary and worrying time as we wait for the letter to fall on the mat with whatever calculation CH has made.

Re: It's still tough

I don't know if I can opt out or not - presumably you'd have to opt out of the whole thing - ie. no employers contributions as well. To be honest, I WANT a pension! So I am ok about paying it into. I guess it's one of those things about CH that they will have some people paying into a pension and so...

Re: It's still tough

Pension contributions are non-essential - so the assessment is on income before pension contributions.

I guess I can opt out of the teachers pension scheme although I have never asked - it just gets taken at source and somehow I think I might be glad of them in the future - I dunno.

Re: It's still tough

An increase, big sigh. Got first pay slip today as well since teacher pension contributions changed - income dropped by £45 a month, so coupled with the monthly increase in school fees, there is more belt-tightening to come.

Re: It's still tough

Glad it wasn't just me. Have now settled back into the routine, and nearly a week gone by!

Not happy to find the bill from the school for next year on the mat though - it's like adding insult to injury! :)

Re: It's still tough

Urgh, it's horrible! Hate the Sunday drive - hate the 'quiet' and tidy house. Yes, the three weeks do go fast once I get back into the routine of work and DS-free weekends - it's the getting back into the routine that takes some time. Sorry to any parents of younger students who thought it would get...

Re: It's still tough

Thanks Katherine. Yes, it's hard but we know it's worth it. I think I do take less time to get over the empty nest syndrome but still find it very difficult.

It's still tough

Maybe it's just me - although I suspect it isn't - but I still find the end of the holidays REALLY hard. DS is nearly at the end of LE so I should be used to it by now....hey, ho! I thought I'd post in case others are feeling the same and then we can all feel dreadful together..........if it's just ...

Re: 2012 Admissions Thread

My DS is in Peele B - he's neither chubby or sporty - he just doesn't like the food at school very much.

Re: Day Pupils

The usual lily-livered false equivalence. Germans were fighting to plunge the whole world into a thousand-year Nazi night. Their dead have no honour. Ours were fighting for freedom, justice, democracy and the rule of law. There is a difference. I'm sure most ordinary German soliders were fighting t...

Re: New Entrants'Day

In the past few years they have taken a really popular song like the Cha Cha Slide and the funky version of Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes and then filmed all the Peele students and staff, and other staff and students doing the moves, and then cleverly cut it together to make a really fun, slick m...
