Re: Anyone else who hated being at CH ?
Sorry to come onto this thread years after the event and I hope the original poster is still on this mortal coil (well you never know when you're my age). No, the misgivings you expressed are perfectly normal and are explored in detail by the psychotherapist and ex-boarder Nick Duffell (one of whos...

An appalling piece of judgement. It would be interesting to know who extended the invitation.

Re: Trial of Gary William Dobbie
Was chapel 4-5 times a week the norm in the late 80s/early 90s, and with Dobbie playing a larger role? Hmmm, maybe not 4-5, but sadly not as good as twice a week. IIRC the seniors got less chapel too, but there were services that were basically hymn rehearsals with the lantern-jawed Allwood vainly ...

Daily Mail quickest to publish: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6950745/Gary-Dobbie-chaplain-Christs-Hospital-School-Horsham-court-child-sex-abuse.html Site tradition demands that someone objects to the Daily Hate’s quoting of full fees (or an approximation). The simple fact is that the me...

Re: CH bans free speech
So you went over there, in your first few posts you swung it around a bit, got a bit ad hom, and are now surprised when you get short shrift?
I share your total amazement and outrage, I really do.

Re: CH 1552 Project
The first of a series of quadrennial books through to the quincentenary asking questions perhaps coupled to open quadrennial "Governor's Conferences" in Big School. One idea being the establishment of a "Christ's Hospital Group" of state and independent schools with a mission to...

Re: How will CH cope with Brexit?
(see my previous post elsewhere quoting Gen Wesley Clark of the Pentagon). You didn’t ‘quote’ Clark. You ascribed an unattributable story to him, which the rest of the interweb hasn’t really picked up on. This is how people create false narratives. It’s despicable and you and your ilk should be cal...

He knows his job, and his judgement seems sound. There’s good proof however that he’s a bully and a bit of a prick.

Re: Gaia Week at Christ's Hospital
Some of the wiser pupils put through ‘Gaia week’ are likely to observe that the ice caps continue to melt despite all the sniping, intrigue and academic politics revealed above. They may prefer to listen to people capable of making change rather than talking about it?

Re: How will CH cope with Brexit?
Without bothering to engage with it point by point, Avon says that my post is arrant bollocks. I suppose that this is the kind of chortling response that ex-public schoolboys and Bullingdon boys like Boris Johnson would say about something they disagreed with but were too lazy to engage with. Like ...

Sillett used to smoke cigars during prep. Foul things - quite befitting the man really.

Re: How will CH cope with Brexit?
Firstly, no big country goes into another for any length of time for the good of the indigenous population. There is always something they want. Oil, gold, minerals or to keep a trade route open. This is the raison d'etre behind Afghanistan and Iraq. You talk about refugees flowing hither and thith...
