Re: All this is incredibly sad
Like rockfreak, I too am amazed by the fact that bullying, which was declining in his time, and declining still faster in mine (we overlapped but he was four years my senior) seems to have got worse in the 1970s and 1980s. For heaven's sake. Bullying isn't like smallpox. It doesn't decline as medic...

Re: Dobbie's departure
Feel free to tell me I am wrong. Allow me. You’re wrong. Borderline hysterical in the above post. You’ve done good on this site but considering your background should know better. Tim’s offering a valuable perspective in a measured way. I wouldn’t want him to feel hounded from this site again by su...

Re: Roger Martin
ok - in that evidence of the totally separate management of the 2 organisations i can see why ex leaders (some of whom left the school under a cloud) could still end up on a scout camp during the holidays and outside the school grounds without any control or input from the school As foureyes states...

Legal discalimer: I personally take all and full legal responsibility for naming the perpetrater here. If Mr McCall wants to sue me, I say lets have it, bring it ON!

Re: CH and the Armed Services
Chief was a star. So was the RE Sgt Maj who ran the Army section. The odd one out was Rocker Rae who sported spray on RAF Service Dress and couldn’t quite carry off his elevated rank. Happy days. I loved the RN section. I always wanted to be on the shooting team as they had really rather fetching lo...

Re: Did anyone know?
The cane had definitely gone, but Shippen for one still enjoyed a good slippering in the immediate post-merger years - though I might add that this was in his capacity as a junior housemaster rather than as Scoutmaster, lest I muddy the water regarding the barge trips This needs correcting. Derek B...

Re: Letter to the Head Master
I’m increasingly of the view that it had very little. It had pomp, and politics - and very, very stupid people, who thought that was enough.

Re: Karim's sentence hearing
Have a read of these reports (NB they are a distressing read, right from the start). CH deserves its very own version I'm afraid. https://www.iicsa.org.uk/news/inquiry-publishes-report-ampleforth-and-downside This. I want this. An independent enquiry into the School to understand and publicly ident...
