Re: Telegraph article: Pupils at prestigious public school will receive lessons in 'white privilege'
I would presume that a lot of the former pupils at CH knew a lot about the " real world ". We grew up post WW2 with PTSD rife amongst our parents, Some of us living in quite squalid accomodation, and very little money. I think that makes us experts regarding the real world.

Re: Telegraph article: Pupils at prestigious public school will receive lessons in 'white privilege'
Problems for black or Asian pupils living in the real world (as opposed to the fairyland occupied by ex-public schoolboys). Last week the Guardian ran a story quoting an Afro Caribbean mum who complained that her teenaged son had been stopped by the police and asked to justify himself no less than ...

Re: Brexit
If there was a new vote regarding Brexit I wonder what the result would be this time round. What a mess the country is in. It would be interesting to find out, but of course we won't. Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if the outcome was the same, only more decisive... And I still here in Scandinavia c...

Re: Brexit
If there was a new vote regarding Brexit I wonder what the result would be this time round. What a mess the country is in. And I still here in Scandinavia cannot buy either PG tips or Marmite. I ordered four books from a bookshop the other day. A total of forty pounds and postage 32 pounds. Then whe...

Re: Brexit
Lets do a deal!
I have food, petrol, easy travel, can send and buy goods anywhere in Europe ( not meaning England here ) without problem.
I want tea and Marmite.
Any Brexiters wishing to deal?

Re: Roger Allam in Radio Times
Continuing: the school at least in the 60s and 70s was full of " damaged children " children who grew up with one or more parents who suffered during WW2. Certainly there were other pupils who came from backgrounds not damaged by a war but a host of other difficulties . A lot of these if ...

Re: Roger Allam in Radio Times
From the article in the Telegraph:It sounds like a classic grooming technique that he managed to avoid, thanks to a stable family background with loving parents and two older sisters that gave him a sixth sense for danger and what was not right. " Not quite sure why but this makes me feel very ...

Re: What Doesn't Happen At CH These Days?
Rockfreak does it again! Trying to wind people up. Well I'll bite. I disliked my time at CH I was not suited to the school and perhaps the school was not suited to me ( bit pompous but still...). The day Newsome suggested that I should leave felt that now my life is starting. However I am proud of C...

Sad
My parents were at a concert in the sixties.
I have seen them four times.
All of my children have seen them
Three of my grandchildren have seen them.
One knew it was bound to happen, but one never thought it would.

Re: Olympics mania
I'm not really into cycling but every year I look forward to the Tour de France. The views that are shown from that incredible place are wonderful. The commentators here in Scandinavia seem to know every church in every village. I have learnt a bit about cycling as well.
