Re: New sports kit list
Cheers LonelyMom.......CH don't seem to have grasped what kind of info new parents might want!
Mind you, I'd be even happier if you changed your moniker to CheerfulNowIKnowThey'reHappyMom!

Re: New sports kit list
Apart from the crested stuff and the house stuff I was planning on getting everything else (football boots, navy socks, plain tracksuit trousers etc) from other outlets in dribs and drabs over the next few months. On the New Entrants Day, do the children go off and do their thing while we other thin...

Re: New sports kit list
Thanks for your imput Lonelymom re the socks! Apparantly we'll get their house number on the New Entrants Day. I'm not going to get anything until then I think. I can't find the link to the Kukri shop on the school website so I'll wait another 3 weeks and then have a look at the stuff and make a dec...

Re: New sports kit list
Surely a pair of navy sports socks is a pair of navy sports scoks?
6 pairs at a fiver each?
Do people think it is ESSENTIAL to get the branded kit? (not the crested stuff, I can see that they will stand out a mile if they don't have that but socks? )

Re: New sports kit list
I too am astounded by the cost but also by the apparant need for my son to have 3 crested polo shirts @£16 and 2 reversible rugby shirts @£34. He's not a sporty boy and is not likely to be in school teams but I also don't want him to stand out like a sore thumb or to get into trouble for not havin...

Re: Are we alone?
It's 25% of my net income. Luckily I never chose to over mortgage so we've had spare money for holidays over the past few years and now this money will quite rightly be diverted to pay for the school fees. Why I question the 12.5% is because I have been very careful and yet could still not buy somew...

Re: Are we alone?
I didn't expect CH to just pick up my mortgage payments as realise there is a need to ensure that people dont put all their money into their mortgage. However, we live in a terraced house at the bottom end of the housing market and my mortgage is still 25% of my income (and currently has 24 years to...

Re: Are we alone?
If the school needs more money to sustain its charitable ethos then yes, perhaps it does have to take more full payers BUT it still should NOT be taking so much from others that they cannot survive on what is left. Does anyone know where they get the 12% figure for mortgage payments? I must admit th...

Re: GCSE options
I think the very worrying thing from this thread is the lack of communication with parents about issues such as this. How often do parents get info from school? Do those of you with children already at CH feel happy with the amount and quality of the info you have been getting over the past few year...

Re: Helpful Tips for New Parents please!!!
Sports every day? I think this might make him think twice about wanting to go.
The list of extra curricular activities includes lots of non sporting activities - we assumed he could pick one of these.

Re: Do parents know about this forum?
I looked on the school website for the school forum but couldnt find it - assumed it was me as the website isnt the easiest to use so Googled and found this - by far the most useful source of support and info I have found - in fact, would be lost without it! The more that join the stronger it will g...
